Can't even see a thread here on the fight. Probably is on the current scene but I haven't checked.

Does anyone care?

It looks so predictable, it's going the distance and will be close and possibly controversial with a lot of skill on show, a lot of feeling each other out, but ultimately no danger of a knockout or a big swing in the fight at any given moment.

Dull as fornicate in other words. They seem to be trying to talk up the chances of a good fight:

Hopkins "We come to fight. That's the way it is we gotta fight" (yes thanks for that Bernard)

Wright "If he wanna fight we can fight, we gotta fight" (Yawn)

I do!! To be honest I am actually looking forward to this fight. Hopefully it will turn into a interesting chessmatch type of fight, with plenty of clever moves and intelligent Boxing to watch.

I think I will be in the minority here but I really enjoyed Hopkins - Tarver and Wright - Trinidad.

Of course I love an explosive slugfest as much as anyone but there is so, so much more to Boxing than the likes of Hagler v Hearns, Foreman v Lyle, Gatti v Ward etc etc

At times it can be equally enjoyable to watch two fine Boxers trying to outhink and outsmart each other rather than just going nuts and trying to destroy each other.

this fight is on free tv where i live and i'm not going to bother watching it.
two of the undercard fights are decent and then im switching off. i can't take seeing hopkins flit around the ring while winky covers up.

I will watch it but I won't be staying up all night to do so.

Have to admit I've got next to no interest in this fight - it'll be a tactical chess match between two old war horses, no drama at all. It's a pension meeting.

Want to catch the Katsidis fight though, just to see how he shapes up. Other guy was iced in 50 secs a year ago, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Still, Freddie Roach in the corner means he's not coming to lose.

I'm interested as they both have pedigree. Both are classy, refined fighters. So it won't be exciting. But the exciting fights these days are mostly messy (i.e. Cotto-Judah -was that really elite class? shouldn't Cotto have been more efficient?).

Me too. I'm really looking forward to this. There might not be any fireworks on display, but we will be able to observe a lot of the finer points of the sweet science. It's not often you get a matchup where both fighters are in the current top 6 P4P and you can't pick a winner with any confidence.

In other words a boxing match rather than a fight - Winky by a contraversial split decision - Not losing sleep, I will watch the replay.

Is anyone actually staying up for it? I'm not either, will watch it tomorrow on replay though

I am, though I'll try to grab an hour's kip between the end of the ITV show and the start of the Sky program.

that fight was fvcking dreck. No more big ones for Winky, and in truth, who's in a rush to see Hopkins again after last night.

I ended up stayin up to see it live. Enjoyed a few parts of the fight but most was an average spectacle, hardly the tearup Watt and Smith were trying to make it out it was.

I hope we never see Calzaghe against Hopkins. That would be a hideous spectacle. Calzaghe has always looked terrible against fighters who spoil oe try to rough him up - Starie, Bika etc. Calzaghe v Hopkins would be a maul with Hopkins trying to counter and grab to nullify Calzaghe's high workrate. Much like last night but worse.

Calzaghe's speed, strength and fast hands would make a big difference with Hopkins. Wright's offense was frankly pathetic. He never was a top 3 pound for pound. Look how Wright fares vs a bigger man.

It was so poor to watch last night. Hopkins was just dropping in little flurries. Not many were getting through but he deserved a narrow (no way wide) win.

It's for the best that both retire. Few will want to see them again.

The best thing about the card was Jorge Linares. He was excellent. Beat Larios way better than Pacquiao did. Major featherweight talent.

Agreed Linares was a turnup for the books. He looked the goods, although tough to know how much Larios had left. Look forward to Linares v Chi if the Korean recovers.

Ironically, Calzaghe can smother offensive fighters - see what he did inside with Lacy - but definitely, if Bika can do it Hopkins can. Thats what Hopkins is good for now - making ppl look bad. God knows why anyone would give him a big stage.

I have to say, Winky's punching technique is diabolical. He looked so clumsy.

Wasn't that bad a fight, I kind of enjoyed it but it was still pretty much what I think most expected. Could have been worse I guess....

hopkins won it fair and square though.

Both men had quality defense. Absolutely dire offense. Very poor spectacle. If GBP didn't carry those 2 fighters they would have no more HBO.

I thought it was an entertaining fight, Hopkins is a master at turning fights his way and has excellent defence.

Thank feck Hopkins Is not getting overrated for beating Winky here like on other forums.

There making him P4p no 3 and putting him as an all time great at top 10 or ahead of Monzon on places like Eastside.

It did annoy me that on SKY they kept refering to Winky as GREAT or one of the GREATS etc etc.

He is/was a GOOD champion but not a GREAT one.

our illustrious ratings have him as p4p no1

Wright is a great fighter, he always had the potential to be great when he was fighting over here (Britain), and everyone avoided him. Lets give him the credit he deserves for going all the way up to 12 stone 2. Hes thought Hopkins, quartey, taylor, trinidad, and mosley twice in his last 7 fights, he could give anyone a good fight.

I thought that hopkins won, probably 115-113
