Macklin won in 1 round last night and stated that he is to carry on his career at Middleweight, Eastman holds the British & commonwealth belts at middleweight, give Macklin another couple of fights then surely Team Macklin will want to try & fight for these titles.

What are people thoughts on the outcome of this bout if it happened ?

Would be a big win for Macklin if he could pull it off.

Eastman is getting old, Macklin could outwork him over 12, it would be a big ask though, Eastman has so far only lost to world class boxers.

It would be a good one, Macklin came so close to beating Moore... What a fight that was, what bollocks from both guys.

If Macklin can go 10 rounds at that pace, then he could go 12 at fighting at a lower pace (but still too much for Howard).

Good fight actually, tough to call. Eastman vs Elcok could be interesting though, at least as a guage as to how much Howard has left.

I would actually favour Macklin to beat Eastman , I think there's a lot to come from Macklin in the future and beating Eastman would be a great first step towards that .

This talk is a bit premature, by the sounds of what Macklin was saying last night it seems they are looking to rebuild with a few more fights this year. He is not ready to face Eastman, although it is a fight he could win its a huge risk another tearup and hard defeat could ruin him.

Anyone with work rate and a decent chin can outpoint Howard these days.

I still Eastman has a few more years left in him yet - but how long until father time catches up with him is anyones guess as he's so unpredictable!

I can;t see Elcock causing him any hassles - he's not going to prove anything by fighting him and should be looking to get his mitts on the European again after.

Macklin is still to show that the Moore fight made and didn't break him. He was knocked out bad in a war.

Eastman may be past his best, and he may be throwing less shots than ever before, but he's made a career out of beating guys who were anything less than World class. Right now, I'd say he's still too good for Macklin, who has yet to show he can win a British title. Eastman would fight in bursts, but do enough to win, I'd say.

Macklin is a student of the game and lives and breathes boxing.

At this stage Eastman's desire must be fading.

If they fought tomorrow I would give Howard the edge but if Matty can keep active and get 3 or 4 fights under his belt at the new limit, I reckon the Brummie would have too much desire/youth for the old warrior.

There was a lot of talk about that about a year ago in the Irish press but unsurprisingly the talk all faded away. Too much to loose and not enough to gain for either at this stage but will be a hot ticket somewhere down the line.
