Having only been beaten once, why do you think Naz didn't ever fight again. I know he fought once after the Barrera fight and won the IBO title but soon stopped after that.

Yes he did go into prison for a while but he was still only a young un when he came out.

at 33 do you think he would ever consider a comeback as reported in press some time ago he was supposed to be back in training. Ive seen pictures that show him a huge fellow these days, but what sdoes he do with his time, at 33 he must do something rather than sit at home eating burgers.

I think Naz lost touch with himself. The money and acclaim softened his will and for the last couple of years he was getting by on punch power. It happens a lot to the power punchers, they stop getting better, become predictable and eventually fall short of their potential.

He never came back because he was a joke, and anyone who knew anything about boxing knew. He was a paper tiger.

i think what you are saying here is crap really, you do not give any reason why you think this statement.

I never liked hamed, i hate cocky boxers (Eubank follows that criteria) but you cannot say Hamed was a joke in all honesty.

Hamed was a good fighter but things went wrong. so if hamed wwas a joke, in what way??

Hardly. He effectively cleaned up the division and beat good fighters on the way, most of them convincingly. His only loss was to all time great M.A.B, and there's no shame in that.

The reason he never came back is because he lost the hunger. He's extremely wealthy, has a wife and kids and a life in religion outside the sport. Simple.

Hamed made a lot of money, probably invested it wisely, so lost most, if not all the desire & motivation needed for training camps etc.

Naz is no doubt financially comfortable, his family too. Shame, but hey, that's the way it went. No way he makes a comeback now. He'd never make 126lbs again, never!

I am new around here and just pop in. But it seems to be fairly regular for guys to completely blow off world champions like they were Big foot Martin.

I think Hamed started to slip around 1997. He still loved the money and attention of being a big name Champion but started to lose the hunger and dedication with regards to training right.

Shame really as in the ring he was a remarkable fight and I still feel he could have accomplished more.

Not a great fighter but a fighter who at times could fight great.

He was a paper tiger........and all you guys and your blabbing doesn't change that Hamed was an over rated southpaw clown. MAB made him look like a novice. History is on my side.

n his prime Naz was an extremely formidable FW with all time great power in the division.
Barrera was a great fighter who schooled Naz. But Naz was already on the slide when he met MAB.

To call Hamed a paper tiger is just plain wrong, Ringy. So he lost to Barrera, big deal. Barrera's frickin awesome. The rest of Hamed's career is perfectly respectable and he was a good champ while it lasted.
