Give your opinion of who was the best fighter of this decade that is closing to an end. To me it was the worst decade that I have been seeing in boxing...I mean, THE WORST!!!

I just hope that next decade give us the a better time in boxing and I hope better fighters arise.

Roy Jones is up there, Winky for all his losses is a shout - the decade has 3 years yet, January 2011 we could be talking Klitschko, Paul Williams or someone else?

I would say Hopkins is the best fighter of this decade, but Mayweather might surpass him soon enough.

Jones tore up the LHW's for 3 years, compiling all the belts bar the WBO, then won the Heavyweight title. In those 3 years he did more than a lot of fighters do in 10

The best fighter of this decade?

HMMMM

Well I would split it between four boxers:

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Roy Jones JR.

Until 2004, Jones JR. Was a beast not to be messed with, he wqas the UNDPISPUTED LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION and perhaps age caught up with him...He only really tarted ,osing at the age of 35!!!

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Bernard Hopkins:

Hopkins has went form strength-to-strnegth in his career, becoming a wrold champion at 3 different weights & being the UNDISPUTED MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION for over 2 years....

WELTERWEIGHT: Floyd Mayweather JR.

Mayweather's skill is legendary, he can take on anyone in the boxing game, he never floats down form a challenge and is UNDEFEATED!

SUPER BATAMWEIGHT: Maro Antonio Barrera.

Barrera has had some conclusive losses in his career, however he did win in his trilogy of fights with Erik Morales... Back in the early 90s, Barrera was UNSTOPPABLE!

Barrera hands down for me. Jones and Hopkins never faced anyone of great talent* - not their fault I know, and Hopkins, for me, is one of the dullest champions of all time. Long runs of successive title defences mean very little when the quality of opposition is so low.

*Of their weight.

They fought each other. Plus Jones beat Toney and Hopkins beat Wright, De La Hoya and Trinidad

You're an idiot. A lot of great fighters had to fight smaller men. Look at Hagler. Plus, as someone else said, they fought each other. Jones also fought Toney.

Hopkins is a great fighter because of an accumulation of wins over the course of his career, not for any one win. That said, just because he was smaller does not mean that beating Wright was not a great win. Tarver isn't great, but he was the bigger man and Hopkins had to move up two weight classes to get him, after years of hearing about how he had not fought anyone good who was his size or bigger. I find it ironic that even after that fight that people are still talking about how Hopkins never fought anyone bigger than him.

Oh, yeah, I forgot, he also has the record for most Middleweight title defenses. The quality was low? Not really, no lower than Holmes'. And I'm getting a bit tired of hearing about how boring Hopkins is. Perhaps its because he's 42? Maybe if you had been watching boxing for more than five minutes you would know Hopkins had quite a few exciting fights in his career, and was something of a pressure fighter in his younger days.

Yo, I feel fine, I do not know why you have to call people names...That is not necessary.

Barrera wins for me over Hopkins and Jones, Jones handpicked his opponents when it suited him and Hopkins career is a study of beating mediocre opposition.... :box: :box: :box:

I rate Barrera over Hopkins and Jones but Mayweather over Barrera, ....if you get my drift... I dont see how anyone can argue against Mayweather really, he may be an arse hole but he's probably the only truely great fighter around right now....
