Here are the supporting bouts for Witter v Harris, anyone else think its a pretty poor show? Hennessy was putting on good value shows a while ago , but the last couple of Witter shows have been very mediocre.

ive seen better amatuer cards than that

probably cant afford a decent undercard

Understandbly packed with Bradford or Northern based boxers for the tickets sales to ensure the venue is packed. Very surprised at this undercard it is very weak.

Yes at the moment Hennessy is not really competing with Warren IMO, look at Franks last big title fight you had Macca v Brathwaite, Arthur v Gogoladze and M'baye v Rees.
Plus a few other undercard fights.

Yes, but that was a rare, brilliant undercard. There have been plenty of similar SN ones in terms of quality to this one, though they would have three times as many bouts on.

....which is not neccessarily a good thing. I would rather sit through 3 shit undercard fights before the main event, than eight any day.

Yes true, but this is the first time in a while that Warren has had serious competition , and he's responded with good cards.
Hennessy seems to be going in the other direction.

I have a feeling that the purse demands for this fight are such that a comporomise has had to be made. It's not like this is likely to draw a huge crowd.

he had to go all out with the quality because of the uncertain TV situation. often, as you say, SN cards are low quality.

I don't know why anyone was expecting any different. Witter and Harris have got to be paid and considering where the fight is taking place it's plainly obvious that there is nothing left for a decent undercard. Witter/Harris maybe a world title fight, but Witter can't sell out his living room and Harris is completely unknown.

It's an appalling undercard, but I'm hardly surprised. Witter and Harris can hardly have been expecting 7 figure paydays, but for the fight to happen (particularly for Harris to come over) it had to be at least worthwhile, financially, for them. Neither of the headliners have much of a fanbase, let's face it, so there was hardly going to be a fortune left over for the undercard. Even if, as I suspect, the lads on the undercard are going to help make the venue look packed for the cameras.

My biggest worry is for anyone who's bought a ticket. I stand by my belief that Witter-Harris is going to be a dreadful spectacle, and if you've paid the money to sit through 6 uninspiring fights, then a poor main event, it hardly constitutes a decent night out. Here's hoping I'm wrong, and it turns into a cracking nights boxing.

Whilst I agree with you, it is quite sad that here we have a boxer fighting in a prestigious world title fight and other than a handful of people on here no one gives a toss.

Agreed Albert, its a big fight...just sadly Witters fighting at the Doncaster Dome, it may be a topic of discussion as to why Jnr has such a poor fanbase(bar a few guys on the forums who think Hatton is crap)

Oh, and I hope Junior beats Harris, genuine..

If the press releases were to be believed and Witter had an increasing fan base then why is this card packed with so many northern ticket selling boxers when the venue is not that big in the first place.

The sad thing is, Albert, it isn't even packed with northern ticket sellers. From what I remember, Grainger and Bell might shift a few but that's about it.

Its a sad day when a genuine world title fight like this would be best suited to a leisure centre in terms of fan appeal, but it once again highlights the business side of professional boxing.

If you cant sell tickets or draw in TV viewers, whats the point?

No wonder Witter calls Hatton out endlessly - he is his only hope of securing a substantial payday.

Witter also needs to start giving some good performances, his last couple of fights have not been very impressive.

Is dave walker still with Hennessy? I thought he was making a bit of a comeback but its all gone quiet lately

Yes, Walker is still with Hennessy. He won his last bout over six rounds on the Oakey v Sparticus undercard.

He's hoping to get on a London show in November all being well.
