I was surprised. Is this a coup for the programme or a sign of how far boxing has fallen that its premier star is bewitched by small money and tv?

In the UK it featured retired footballers and ageing cricketers.

Apparently Evander Holyfield was the 'Real Deal' on the last series of the US version of this show. I think its a bigger hit over there than in the UK, although I could be wrong.

Fleet of foot and still as agile as a cat - I am sure Pretty Boy will 'follow in his footsteps' and do well

Kosyta Tszyu (when retired) also strutted his stuff on the Aussie version - Lil Floyd is in good company.

Laila Ali is a contestant on one of these US dance shows, it is currently being shown over here.

I read somewhere that filming for this show lasts till two weeks before the fight with RH. Whilst I realise that PBF won't be dancing/filming every single day, I'm just beginning to think of Lennox Lewis filming "Ocean's 11" in the lead up to to his first fight with Rahman....

I don't, I don't want there to be any excuses at all if and when Hatton beats him. You can just hear the yanks now winding up their clockwork excuses if Hatton wins on points.

I'm sure I remember reading an interview with Colin Jackson saying he was surprised at how demanding the training was for the dancing.

Its obviously not boxing, but its not bad for himself physically, and I'm sure he will not cut back on his normal training.

I was thinking though, whats the most likely scenario if Floyd loses? I'm sure he will want an immediate re-match and perform better when he realises just how hard a task Hatton is.

I do wonder if Floyd knows what he's let himself in for here. Matt Dawson did over 220 hours of practice over the course of 12 weeks when he was on the show over here, and he also said he was surprised by how tough it was.

This has all the makings of a huge mistake by Mayweather.

He'll injure himself and the fight will get postponed, leaving 10,000 Hatton fans scuppered. You can almost taste the inevitability of it.

Can't imagine PBF responding very gracefully to any judge's criticism of his paso doble either.

Mayweather tries hard to think like a buisnessman and i'm sure he see's this tv gig as a great oppertunity to get non boxing fans to buy the PPV. If he does well on the show, perhaps even winning it, PPV buys for the Haton fight could go through the roof!

But, i think the main reason behind Mayweather's decision to participate on the show is his total disregard for Hatton's chances of beating him. I believe Mayweather selected Hatton, he's confident he can win big and in style.

I see Mayeather winning this fight, but exactly how he does it i'm not sure. I dont rule out the fact that Hatton could run him close, but i also dont rule out Mayweather boxing his head of and stopping him within 5 or 6 rounds!

You are right - this is going to kill pbf's chances, now I reckon Hatton will win. Come on Ricky!

You've got to question the sense of doing anything that could potentially take a fighter's mind off the task at hand.

A big thing to factor in here is that somebody like Floyd is a tremendously hard worker with a big ego. Competitive people don't know how NOT to be competitive. I remember reading an interview with Holyfield where Evander was telling the interviewer how he would beat him at pool, basketball etc.

So, if Floyd does do this he will take it serioulsy and want to do as well as he possibly can - his ego won't allow anything else. This is bound to affect his preparation for the fight, and that all adds up to good news for Ricky.

Personally I don't see Floyd winning a ballroom dancing competition. I suspect when it comes to it he'll have at least 8 weeks to train purely for Hatton.

Totally different specimens I know, but Evander Holyfield was not at all impressive when he turned up on the dancing show over here. At least he gave it a go though.

Does anyone know when they are filming? Dancing should trascend well with Floyds style. It may help his footwork MAYBE FLOYD SEES THIS AS SPECIALISED TRAINING.....HATTON MAY HUG HIM ALL NIGHT AND HE WANT TO PRACTISE UP CLOSE MANOUVERING

Yes, I agree, it it arrogance on a big scale. However, I wouldn't read too much into it. I reckon, deapite what he says to the press, public etc, Mayweather will not underestimate Hatton & will train accordingly as he has done throughout his career.

Floyd is not an idiot when it comes to boxing, so I really can't see him having the 'I've just got to turn up attitude'.

Yeah, you don't beat all the boxers and punchers that Mayweather has beaten without knowing how to get prepared every time.

I don't see him suddenly sleep walking into his next fight. I'm convinced he has a burning desire to do a big job on what he sees as an vastly inferior, albeit popular opponent.
