Overall I thought Junior Witter did well this evening. You have to give credit where it is due although there were some who went completely mad by thinking Vivian Harris was in a 50/50 fight this evening, no way.

A very polished performance but what impressed me more was there was none of the expected bollocks about Ricky Hatton this evening and I was impressed by that. Witter and Hennessy Sports tried their best by resisting even mentioning the name of Hatton by duly setting their sights on Malanaggi which I think is a very good goal. Witter won a lot of respect from me this evening by finally not mentioning all of that and for once simply concentrating on his own career.

If Witter beats Malanaggi especially in New York then I will then be very impressed indeed.

The performance and the fight for me went as expected, although my prediction of Witter winning the fight within 4 rounds was a couple out.

I don't know I was in a pub there was beer and other people.. I wouldn't mind but I'm from halifax and don't even like rugby union.

Anyhow back on topic it looks like it was a realy good performance and witter needed a KO against an opponent who is irefutably top 10

Very pleased with Witter....he made me a few quid tonight!

Obviously there was money going down on Harris in the week prior to the fight with odds tumbling from 2/7 for the Witter win to only 1/2 by fight time....£30 down to net a small £15 quid profit...but the real winner was 7th round finish at 25/1 with a £2 stake to net me £50

It was an excellent performance from Witter against a Harris who was really focused and coming to win. Harris knew what he was up against and was confident and well prepared. But he simply got outsped, outmaneuvered and taken out by a very sharp Junior Witter. Witter got caught a few times with shots he could have avoided but you have to break eggs to make an omlette and he took a few risks in going for the KO he ultimately got. Witter has always had a very dependable chin anyway. Excellent performance.

I like the idea of a Malignaggi fight. It'd be a good win for Witter, it'll get him another belt and we'd have the added bonus of seeing Malignaggi's big mouth silenced.

Witter would stop Malignei and rees easily. The way he stopped Harris he showed he class. I think he could stop Hatton. He the second best boxer to Hatton at this weight. I also think Colin Lynes would beat Rees, he no 3 in UK to me right now. Then you got Bami and Alsogun is this our best weight ever?

I think people are under estimating Malignaggi. The guy took bombs from hard hitting Cotto all night and shut out N'Dou (A guy who made it close against Witter.)

He works for 12 rounds, has a lot of heart and is fairly slick himself. His only main weaknesses are that he doesn't have much power and his chin is open for counters when he throws punches, but seems to have a decent enough chin to compensate.

Witter is a counter puncher who is dificult to fight, we are making an assumption that Malignaggi wants a peice of this fight which it is probable he doesn't for the precise reasons I think witter will win and witter still has a bad name in the USA.

Malignaggi called out Hatton, then named the foe he really wanted, Casamayor. He's full of it.

Malignaggi needs an opponent to come straight at him. I didn't think he looked good against a mummified looking Cotto either.

Full credit to Witter. He beat a good, sharp puncher with a lot of size and reach on him, tonight. I'm chuffed for him.

Commentators tend to go over the top all the time. funny how you don't mention it when it's hatton.

For you to say Hatton v Witter is a close fight to call is a big statement to make. On what basis do you make such a claim?

Now it is time for Hatton to stop the bullshit and actually make the fight that the English fans want. Whether he wins or loses to Mayweather it is pathetic on his part to not fight the other top 140 pound fighter especailly if he is from the same bloody country.

its not till you look at the record of vivian harris that you realise what a good fighter witter has just demolished. i think last nights victory is the ticket to the 'big pay league' that junior needed, im chuffed for him and dominic and team ingle.

of course we were aware that the unorthodox and limited maussa beat harris, but sometimes fighters have a blip somewhere on their record.

who is gonna be next for witter?

malignaggi has been mentioned...perhaps at MSG.

rees has been mentioned but that fight is worthless apart from the belt and warren would only show that one on his own promotion and mick h would have non of that.

cotto has moved on.

hatton is not interested.

there is no chance of witter moving up a weight, he is so strong and so natural at 140.

For me the best thing was the way Junior took the punches. A lot of people on here had been predicting a return to runner Witter was against Judah once he took a full shot from a puncher, but last night after taking a few big shots he came straight back.

Looked very fast and his timing was on. Always was going to be open for shots with Harris' height and reach advantage but gave a lot more than he took.

Great performance, definitely a career best win, similar in statue to Mac beating Braithwaite but a bit better if you know what I mean. Hopefully he gets another fight this year, maybe Hopkins in the states before a unification.

It was very sharp, very impressive stuff. He did have a very bad round in the sixth, but I'm impressed how every time he got tagged, Witter would gather himself, and solve Harris. This was apparent in the 2nd and 3rd rds. Definitely took some big rights.

Malignaggi is a very bad idea. It'll go the distance and regardless of what happens, Paulie would get the decision. These DiBella promotions suck, especially if you're the away fighter.

IMO Witter deserves the "big one" now. That should be Hatton. I don't think Witter would've beaten Tszyu, but I do think he could have the wrong style for Hatton.

Witter we fight night of Hatton fight I sue of that. He be Uk leg of the bill on Sky.

I thought Junior did very well, akward to watch at times but the rounds flew past and it was exciting. He got tagged a bit too much for my liking but he showed he does have genuine one punch power.

Credit to Harris though, at the end of the fourth I thought he was ready to quit, but he came out and had a decent couple of rounds. But in the 7th I think he went threw caution to the wind and thought it was now or never.

The way witter knocked him out was very impressive, and he showed class afterwards in the interview which will hopefully endear him to fans a bit more.

He's getting on a bit now so hopefully he can get the big fight with Hatton regardless if Ricky beats Mayweather or not.

I could see the fight happening if Hatton loses to or gets robbed against Mayweather. Mayweather's already got his excuse ready, being on Dancing With the Stars.

Excellent performance, cannot fault it. Harris was up for it, but did look pretty bad at the weight. Seemed lethargic in his movements from the ringwalk - but he did come to win.... He seems to be a typical Guyanian fighter with his consistency.

Harris didn't test his stamina, something that Malignaggi would do.... So I don't think this answered all the questions, although any doubts about Witter's Speed, Power (although Harris might not be the most durable), reflexes etc have been answered - Witter isn't shot.

Spoke very well at the, both him and Hennessey. I do wish sometimes Brendan would keep his mouth shut.

Very good performance, and for me it is by far his most impressive win - I'm not sure where he is going from here on in, but a fight with Malignaggi would be a mistake.

I guess they are looking for where the biggest buck is now, and apart from Hatton (who isnt going to entertain him) there isn't much there apart from Malignaggi.

Yup, Witter proved his punches can hurt anyone at the very top level if he lands cleanly. I mean one punch power.

He would have had Corley too if he hadn't gone into safety first mode.

Maligianni is probably the sensible fight for Witter now. Unification, exposure to the US, hopefully at MSG, could be big for him.

If (and I mean if, as others have said Maligianni shouldn't be under-rated by any stretch) Witter could score an impressive KO on that stage it really would make the clamour for Hatton to face him almost impossible to resist.

I just have this feeling that Junior would go out there, massive fight night for him and stink the place out again....
