In the after fight ringside interview Junior Witters Coach Brendon Ingle Claimed that the trade paper Boxing News had picked Junior to get beat and that they did not know what they were watching.
When in Fact Boxing News had picked junior to WIN in the 7TH ROUND.
Does anyone know what Brendan was on about or had he not read the article ?
Intresting to see next weeks issue to see whether Brendon has apologised to Boxing News !

He must have a vendetta against Boxing News. I remember after Carl Johanneson beat Ricky Burns he went off on one as well.

that 1 had me scratching my head. maybe he meant NEWSpapers that had previewed the BOXING. I dunno.

I thought he said the "Boxing press" or "the press room" got it wrong - I am not sure he specifically said Boxing News magazine

Nope. Sounded like 'The Boxing News' to me. Silly bugger.

To be fair, you don't get too many predictions that are far off in BN and hey, to err is only human.

They get a lot of stick but I've worked with the guys at BN and a more professional, knowledgeable team you will be lucky to find in any sporting publication.

We'd have more star amatuers If fighters boxed like Ingle fighters and more world champs.

I too thought he mentioned boxing news, although I could be wrong.

Thats as maybe, but its still not nice to be critical of something when they didn't even do it.... Boxing News might be the greatest boxing publication the world as ever produced.

I didn't understand what he was going on about Witter not taking the ugly pills anymore? He also brought in retired Johnny Nelson into it.

Brendan's ringside rants can be obscure, can be funny, can be accurate, can sometimes by offensive.... Think last nights was one of his more obscure ones

Brendan also has credited Enzo Calzaghe and himself as the current best trainers In Britain too I think.

More trainers need to be less traditional In teaching tight covering up styles.

I find him entertaining but yes obscure. Its now wonder Hamed/Witter come across the way they do with Ingle as their mentor though.

What a trainer he is though, hes basically made Hamed, Witter, Nelson and ofcourse Herol Bomber Graham from scratch.

Nothing of course, but for a 70 year old man to act with the maturity of a 25 year old is embarassing. He lacks dignity that usually comes with age.

It could be argued (not by me) that allegedly has done more for boxing than Brendan Ingle, but I don't recall you jumping out of your pram to defend him on here.

You seem to have some sort of agenda, and then come out with this moral compass idiocy... I also fail to see why you have chosen to take such a bombastic tone over such comments, when plenty of people come in for flak over their personality or their handling of the media.

IMO, Brendan has done a lot for his fighters, his unique style and methods are a contrast to many styles that are more popular, and he has enjoyed relative success with the fighters he trains. He deserves congratulation for that.

Theres a lot of what you have written which is correct.

However, Brendan Ingle has been magnificent for boxing over a number of generations producing champions of various standards who have boxed for all promoters.

But does someone like Ingle deserve it? Am I being hypocritical with this stance, yes of course I am but no matter who you are and whatever boxer, promotional team, or personality you have favour with - Brendan Ingle is always ready to talk to you.

What he has done for Boxing in Sheffield both on the amateur and professional circuit and then what he has done for boxing UK wide is something that very few indeed can equal.

Boxing is full of bullshit, full of banter and full of verbal abuse thats just how the sport is, but in my view Brendan Ingle is one of the few who does not deserve any of the shit.

That's a big, big, big call. Just a couple of decades ago, Bobby Neill moulded the hot-headed, cut-prone Alan Minter and the sloppy, moody Lloyd Honeyghan into cool, sharp operators.

It is this boxing forum who has highlighted what Brendan has stated in an after fight inerview and it is people on this forum who have chosen to then as normal take matters far further than things should be. I am one of those who holds Brendan Ingle in high regard and as such I am going to write my piece.

Boxrec is a great forum who like to keep to boxing, thats why ALBERT enjoys being here.

Ingle has produced domestic and world champions over a number of generations and over a huge amount of years. I must confess I do not know anything about Bobby Neill but surely it does not compare with Ingle.

Someone of your boxing knowledge could write down on this thread the huge amount of champions Brendan Ingle has produced.

There are a lot of trainers who are very good in their own right who have a huge amount to give to the sport, but my argument is other than perhaps Brian Hughes who else can compete with Ingle.
