Has he retired?? He hasnt fought since June and usually fights every couple of weeks

Doubt if Peter would retire before he reached the 300.

Usually see him on dinner shows teaching the youngsters the pro game. Not many dinner shows over the summer so I would expect to see him back in the ring soon.

well I didnt think he would quit before 300 either but its been a long time since hes had a break of that length

I always remember Naz (hair combed to one side), in his first fight for FW, giving him the wanker gesture when Buckley complained of premature stopp. I think it was a rematch

Peter still remains the only British boxer to have gone the distance with Hamed.

If Peter makes it, he will be the first British fighter to reach 300 fights since Cardiff's Ernie "Red" Pullen in 1946.
Pullen (record horribly incomplete on here) registered 346 fights. He scored 102 wins.

He could be, but I don't remember ever hearing that. Maybe just has permanent residency.

Maybe promoters are fed up of Buckley constantly losing and not coming to win.

because if you get KO'ed you cant fight again that month but if you lose on points you can fight again next week

As has been mentioned already, Buckley coming to bore everyone into submition and not challenging the prospects is a waste of time..take his lisence away

gives them rounds and helps them learn how to deal people with tight cross arm defences, I respect him for the amount of shows he and indeed Nobbs has saved.

I asked how can he miss money when he's got a fulltime job surely. Mikee answered my question.

I wonder how many people that talk of journeymen being crap or boring have ever stepped into the ring.

British boxing needs the Peter Buckley's to do just what josh fg said. Young boxers starting out in the pro game gain valuable experience from guys like Peter. Coming from the amateurs where points scoring is the thing, they would learn very little if put up against other novices and would probably get mauled if put up against hungry pro's who are still contenders.

I've seen Peter many times and he's not called the Professor for nothing. He lets these guys hone their skills, gives them rounds under their belt and if they get a little bit cocky he can quickly give them a reminder as to where they are. I'm sure that if it suited him he could beat many of the young apprentices put in with him.

In my opinion, anyone who steps into the ring deserves respect and that most definitely includes Peter Buckley.

I dont get the McCullough statement, considering he was Irish and not British to begin with, despite Northern Ireland being under the United Kingdom....so Buckley, really, is the only Brit to go the distance with Hamed.
