I just seen Chris Eubank v Simon Collins and Charlie Magri is commentating on ITV (dont think it was live), saying how Benn would knock his block off and trying to put Eubank down as much he could (Jim Watt ofcourse always did this too later on in Eubanks career).. but Eubank looks absolutely brilliant in this fight, sure Simon Collins is only a punchbag, but his jab looked absolutely lovely and his combinations smooth as fornicate! He looked much better in this one fight than he ever did in 20 odd world title fights we saw him in..

I wonder why Warren etc weren't interested..?

Former editor of Ring/KO Steve Farhood who knew Eubank personally when he was 19 says he caused an upset on his PRO DEBUT because he was supposed to be just cannon fodder for the prospect he was fighting, only they knew nothing of Eubank.. Its a shame that Naz, like Eubank before him, did indeed end up a waster..

Ive seen a few of his amateur fights, the quality wasnt great because it was from hand held camera. He had really fast hands but his neck and waist were stiff so he looked too upright He threw jabs and crosses alot, used feet for defence and had a semi-afro!!! He won these fights btw. I also had his fight with Logan on tape, where he drops to his knees after. He was dripping with desire in that fight with Logan (yeh the boy who almost had Benn out). Also much more muscled by time he fought Logans than when he was starting out, more lastic as well

To be fair it's easy to be clever with hindsight but not many were picking Eubank to beat Benn.

He was fighting bums, none were televised, and he was probably a complete twat. Plus, nobody could tell if he had a great chin.

I've got his amateur fight with Joseph Henry and pro fights with Tim Brown, Ken Cannida, Darren Parker, Winston Burnett, Michael Justin, Greg George and Ron Malek. All on DVD.

On the subject of Eubank, he was getting pissed up with David Beckham's sister on Saturday night at the Embassy Club in London and tried chatting up Chanelle from Big Brother (seriously!).

Duff wouldn't sign him because he didn't want to pay him enough and didn't like a fighter who wanted an input in his career decisions.

Warren passed on him after reports of poor performances in the Gym against Tony Collins.

Maloney failed to give him an extra £800 that he promised him if his fight with Logan was aired on ITV so Eubank wouldn't deal with him ever again, and never did.

Hearn gave him what he wanted via his Manager Darkie Smith.

Duff wouldn't waste his time with a joker like Eubank and Eubank would never have hacked a proper career that Duff would put him through. I can't help but smile at the thought of Eubank trying to cope with the same path as Lloyd Honeyghan went down.

Well then Eubank's fans are being too sensitive.

He made the most of his capabilities, scored some great wins and changed the face of British boxing......just don't expect everyone to share the same enthusiasm.

Eubank said the likes of Tony Collins, Bomber Graham, Castro Smith and etc were basically wimps who wouldn't stand with him and spar properly, he said something along the lines of in a ring 10 ft by 10 ft he'd of annihilated them..He says they'd of wouldn't of lasted 10 mins in a New York gym

I remember when Ernie Fossey told Boxing News in 01 that Tony Sibson would have destroyed Eubank, Eubank was told this and laughed. Then he said how Fossey cost him his last fight when he wouldn't cut the eye and said what a useless cornerman he was. -Theres no love lost between Eubank and the British boxing fraternity.

what do you mean a proper career he boxed for the money he made money as far as i can see job done and he,s still healthy so whats the problem duff was a greedy c**t at his shows he would charge a £1 for a sheet of paper and called it a program im suprised he aint been served up the amount of times he,s knocked people

Duff is the most litigious promoter/manager in the history of boxing, and as far as I am aware, he never lost a libel suit....

It's fair to say that Duff and pals made a small bloody fortune out of the boxing scene in those days, they had a lovely little arrangement all around, until the new boys broke it up.

Poor old Chris, so close to winning that second fight but for that horrific swelling, against a much bigger man. Maybe if he'd had a longer layoff and let it heal a bit he would have been alright in that rematch.

What a frigging punch that man could take, when you think of the cruiserweights that Thompson has decked the shit out of, the fact that Eubank was able to stand and trade with him is absolutely amazing.

he was actually with MIKE TYSON at MAHIKI club in the VIP, though that may have been sunday, sarah harding from girls aloud was there too. yesterday he was in a limo humvie with TYSON with a small entourage in picadilly circus. they had burger king sponsers on the bonnet of the vehicle. i wonder what he's upto.

Agree with a lot on here, he showed towards the end what a great heart he had but he did fight a lot of stiffs and his style left a lot to be desired. A lot of looping and winging and throwing punches while running in and putting his head down - though he managed to knock out C-rate fighters like Dos Santos and Jarvis in this way.

Good jab at time though, see Eubank v Benn 1

PS I notice Holdsworth calls him EUBANKS - which a lot of people seem to do

His brothers (Peter and Simon) were billed as Eubanks (with the 's' on the end), no prizes for guessing why Chris knocked the 's' off...

Eubank was and is a very strong and tough man....

I have met him and he was very polite even taking the time to chat to me when he was actually talking to TV exec's at the Trafalger Hilton in London.

One of my favourite boxer's of alltime....
