Tyson has a good chin, Pat, where have you been? He takes tons of shots before he's ever knocked out, I don't see why you were even comparing his chin to that of Tommy Morrison.

Morrison has been knocked down with a jab, no comparison whatsoever with Tyson's chin. Morrison was fun to watch, but if Michael Bentt could take Morrison out in one round, Tyson does it in less than thirty seconds.

on defense of tommy chin I could tell you that he didn't have the best chin, but hey he took some good shots agaist ruddok, and won, foreman for 12 rounds, and won, carl williams, and won, ross puritty(guy who beat wlad klitz) and had at least a draw.
I mean his chin is not the best, but was not the worst.
take a look at joe hipp fight, tommy broke his 2 hands, his jaw, and had like 25 stiches in his right eye, and won the fight in a knock out! I mean chin sometimes doesn't matter if you have balls and heart.
Tommy in my oppinion would take tyson, he was suppost to fight tyson when he got out of jail, but somehow don king promote the fight agaisnt that irish who is a discrace= PETER MCMUFFIN
why didn't tommy fought tyson that night? well, they were scared that tyson wound't have the best return by losing to one of the most dangerous boxers in the 90's

u know what? tommy was never on his prime, because he was always improving fight to fight... by the way tommy never got knock down by lewis, everytime he went down, he took a knee, and they stop the fight because of his eye. Tyson didn't get up, when he fought lennox.
Tommy took 6 rounds to knock Ruddock out, Tyson had to fight twice Ruddock to prove that he was better than him.
Tommy beat James Quick Tillis in 1 round and put him down 3 times, Tyson took 10 rounds in a desition to beat TIllis.
Tommy beat Pinklon Thomas in 1 round, Tyson beat Thomas in 6 rounds and took him 19 combination punches to put the man down in the 6th.
Enough to say I guess.. Now u are telling me that Tyson 2003 will beat Tommy when he was on his prime... I don't think so.
But hey... this is a forum, that's what so great about it... the discussion part.

look at the stats I just wrote about the fights that tommy tyson fought..
saying that tyson today could beat tommy, that is insane, since everybody could beat tyson today.
a Knee is a knockdown, but it doesn't look as bad as being on the floor and not get up.
Tommy was very powerfull, and you can't question his power.
Tyson on his prime was a machine, but I still believe Tommy could take him out.
again, look at the fights I just listed above, and that could say something.

You are missing the point, compare the fights I listed above, and watch them, you will see how powerfull was tommy, took him less in order to knock down does people. Look the Tillis one, Thomas one, Ruddock one.
Have you ever heard what mercer said about tommy: '' tommy morrison was the most powerfull puncher I've ever faced before''.Mercer had one of the best chins in the 90's.
but to make you happy let me list you some boxers who will be able to beat tyson today with no problem.
tua, lennox lewis, bird, both klitz, even holyfield(they are both washed up).

I guess nobody told you Tyson beat those guys you listed when they were still fresh and top ten contenders, and Tommy beat them when they were all used up.
Tommy beat Ruddock long after Ruddock faded from the top ten. When Tyson beat Ruddock, Razor was top three to four in all the magazines.
ANd still Razor almost beat Tommy!
TOmmy also beat a shell in Pinklon THomas. Give me a break! how can you compare the Thomas Tyson fought with the one Morrison fought with a straight face?
TIllis was used up when he fought Morrison.
You wanna play that game lets talk about Tyson and Morrison' fights with Carl Williams. I would say Tyson had a much easier time, no?
You are a delusional Morrison fan. You can not even compare the two's careers. TYson would KO Morrison at any time the two were boxing.
Please, don't ever dismiss some one and say they have a lack of boxing knowledge (as you did to Tantum) when you are posting such nonsense as Tyson would get KO'ed by TOmmy Morrison.
I would say you must have a severe lack of boxing knowledge, but more likely the case is you are delusional.
WHen Lewis beat Tyson every one started calling him an all-time great. WHen he beat Morrison, nobody cared. WOnder why?

when williams fought tommy, he trained harder than the tyson fight, because of the white thing, no black boxer will like to lose against a white guy, Williams said before the fight that he train harder than the Tyson one.
you are going to tell me that holyfield has a better punch than tommy, I woudn't be able to believe it. If tyson got knock down by a buster douglas, I mean why woudn't be knock down by tommy. He was more compleate fighter than Douglas, look at their records if you have any doubts, and look at their opponents.
WHy Tyson didn't fight Tommy when he got out of jail than? and got Peter Mcneeley?
now you gonna tell me that Peter was better than Tommy.

"Prediction: Tommy KO round 2!"
I guess that would have to be "Tommy KO'ed in round 2!".
Let's face it, Tyson has even a better punch than Tommy, a way harder chin and more talent, last one faded away.
Compare the early Tyson to Tommy, Mike was also a great boxer not only a puncher.
There is definitively no way that Tommy could ever beat him, Tyson would take his shots with no big problems and before Tommy could KO him, Tyson would destroy Tommy.
------------------------------------------
Even as a Morrison fan I have to admit that.
PS: Being a fan doesn't mean being blind for the facts.
I also love Portugal's soccer team but I know they won't ever be champions.

Mike Tyson is the most overrated fighter ever...
Tyson's reputation for having a good chin is mostly based on his heavybag impersonation against Lewis..... I never really heard people say that until he fought Lewis.... But having a great chin and being able to take a beating aren't really the same thing
Guys with great chins..are able to come back and be effective...
Mike Tyson..once he got hit back hard a few times tended to go into a shell and be very tentative He wasn't easy to knock down with a punch but he could be severely discouraged fairly easily...
and he NEVER showed the ability to come back from a knockdown to win
Mike Tyson was the classic front-runner as long as he was dominating without any opposition ...he could roll ...but if someone could withstand that initial bull rush and fire back they had a good chance
The post prison version of Mike Tyson was very protected he was steered away from anyone who might give him difficulty.. including Tommy Morrison..His handlers, however, miscalculated when they picked a supposedly washed up Holyfield
Now I don't think Morrison would have beaten Mike Tyson ...he certainly would have been an underdog.. But I don't think it would have been a ridiculous mismatch like Tantum and some others are saying
Joe Louis vs Mike Tyson: now that would have been a mismatch...

A very correct statement. ANYONE who feels this way about Morrison is VERY delusional. Basically, once he realized he could never be a heavyweight champ, he blazed a path of self-destruction. Whenever your feeling Tommy-Happy again, reflect back to Mercer, Lewis, and need I say...Michael Bentt??
Btw, most of his 40 "awesome" knockouts were against over the hill and/or washed up fighters.

Mike Tyson's record in Heavyweight championship fights:
Three wins (against rather suspect opposition)
Two losses (both times he was beaten badly)

Uh...you're like off by about 11 fights. That is to say, Mike Tyson was involved in 16 heavyweight Championship fights with a record of 12-4.
Hope I helped.

Yeah if you count "Cheese Championship" fights he wasn't really champ until he beat Spinks....He defended sucessfully against Bruno and Williams
And lost it for good to Douglas after 19 months
all-in all a very pedestrian reign..
the next time he fought for the real Title He got slobberknocked by Lewis
3 wins
2 losses
19 month reign as champ :

Zurdo is correct. Although most folks felt Tyson was the best heavyweight around (and rightly so) he did not become world champ until he squashed Spinks.

Mike Tyson is surely the most overrated fighter ever... All throuout his career people have been overrating him
Tyson certainly had a very spectacular start to his career. He had a number of highlight film whackouts. over guys who were over-the-hill,overweight or on drugs. ...or sometimes all three..
I think Jim Lampley put it best..
"He was NEVER able to put a quality big man, who was in his prime on his back"...... Tysons reputation as a destroyer is overblown...
After he lost to Douglas he never regained championship form... I think his confidence was broken...he never was close to being as good as he was before that fight ... and he wasn't as good as most people thought anyway...
But a lot of people confuse showbiz with fighting..
To them Mike Tyson is forever frozen in 1988
To them he's still the implacible destroyer
And he was great showbiz....... His wrassling villan schtik was great at the press conferences. He'd yell and scream and threaten...
and he scowled menacingly when he walked to the ring..
He made some people a lot of money...but overall i think he damaged boxing.. with his bull-boy thug image...
There was that disgraceful quit job against Holyfield in the second fight...
Say what you will about Tommy Morrison he never disgraced himself like that...He could get knocked out by Michael Bentt 20 times and still look better than Tyson did because of that
a lot of people bought into the persona of Mike tyson and ignored what happened in the ring
He was very protected by his management He might very well have lost several other fights....I think a 1993 Riddick Bowe would have thumped him worse than Lewis....
It was pretty laughable when lots of people picked him to beat Lewis..I don't think he ever would have had a chance against Lennox
but it's kind of sad now that people think he can contend again...he's just going to end up getting his brains scrambled..
bad a guy as he is ....even Mike Tyson doesn't deserve that

theres no evidence to suggest tyson could ever overcome lennox lewis.
riddick bowe however was made for tyson. good fighter but no defence and easy to hit. had tyson fought bowe in 96 i am sure he would have KOd bowe.

Not a chance Overhand...
front running Tyson never showed he could hang in a grueling firefight..
The Bowe who battled against Holyfield in those three fights would have beaten up Tyson and put "Showbiz Mike" on his back....
Tysons reputation as a destroyer is overblown...He NEVER put a quality big man, who was in his prime, on his back....
