Witter-Malignaggi, now we are talking!

I Sometimes think my comments oabout Witter are about as vitriolic as Cicero's 'Philippics' speeches on Mark Antony in Roman times.

On record I wish Junior well in his career, my problem comes with his inbred fans who spout pure garbage about Hatton, have no respect and generally piss me off...

So I think to myself, where should Witter go? and I come up with One name...

PAUL MALIGNAGGI

Here we have the 'King of New York' mouthy, arrogant and adored in the States..he is on the up, not the shell that Corley and Harris were..

Win that and the world respects him..and even I will say he has earned a fight with Hatton..

Go for it Junior, im convinced Malignaggi will take the fighte Madison Square Grden beats the Doncaster Dome...

I must be the only person here who think's Malignaggi would be a nightmare fight for Witter.

Witter under performs against boxers and Malignaggi would box Witter's ears off in my opinion :)

Bit of a misleading thread. You make it sound like the fight is on. Is it fvck. Witter's done more than Malignaggi. Harris and Corley were WBC top contenders.

Malignaggi hasn't done so much. He's hideous to watch and fights so much like Silvio Branco. Once he fights someone who can use their power he's in for it.

And how will Malignaggi cope when he faces someone who can box in orthodox and southpaw stances?

So he beat Ndou better than Witter did. So what. He's not adored anywhere. He's an acquired taste. No network giant is going to pick this fight up, which could fizzle out any second.

Might not be an exciting fight either with both fighters wanting to counter each other.

But its the "money" fight for Witter at this present time.

I'd prefer to see Witter-Judah 2 at 140 (Judah can still make 140 apparently). Judahs on a downward spiral, on rewatching the first fight Witter did allot better than given credit for and now hes developed his man strength and power he stops Judah quicker than Cotto.

Would be a great move for Junior.

Witter Vs Malignanni would be a very technical fight and probably not the most exciting due to there respective styles, so no doubt the Hattons and his fans would go back to saying Witters not excitinng enough to share a ring with Hatton.

Witter has already done more than enough to land a fight with Ricky, lets see where Hatton goes after the Mayweather fight is done and dusted

Take a fight with Gavin Rees and, if he wins, go to the US with the two premier belts to further the campaign to get the elusive Hatton in the ring.

It might just work out too...

But Chambers, Witter is waiting, thats the problem...will Hatton be charitable and give Witter the fight?? Wouldnt it be nice for Witter if he did but he needs to take his own career path

Malignaggi is money, Malignaggi is respect and Malignaggi would enable him to fight some other big names, not just talk about Hatton for the next Two years..

Witter was awsome on Friday night, he needs to strike while the Iron is hot, he needs to make his own career path and forget Hatton, who cares if Paulie aint the reincarnation of Marcel Cerdan, he aint appaling to watch...its a big fight

And the main reason Hatton wont fight Witter is because he doesnt want Junior making money...if Junior has his own money then what will stop Hatton fighting him??

What contractual terms would Sports Network want with Witter for this do you think BC? Obviously I presume they'd want options. Would Henesseys contract allow this? I doubt it

(doesnt expect answers - although it would be nice)

Why not Witter-Castillo or Witter-Gatti or Witter-Freitas - all are big name low risk fights

Terry D wrote:Waiting on Hatton is what left Junior looking a fighter in limbo for a long time and you advocate more of it? If Junior is red-hot should he really be advised to adopt a wait-and-see policy towards his next opponent on the basis of seeing what Hatton does after his next fight?

If Hatton wins then a bigger fight than Witter is next. If Hatton loses clearly he may want to consider further options with Witter only being amongst them. Hatton loses, or wins, closely in a good fight then a rematch will be in order.

Either way Witter could wait between 6-8 months for definitive word on Hatton's next move, if it doesn't include Witter what then? Start from scratch.

Witter's next move should not be dictated by Hatton-Mayweather, it should be dictated by Witter-Harris. It's time to move on.
I'm not saying Witter should stay inactive or put his career on hold til Hatton points his thumb up or down, if the Malignanni fight is offered to Witter next up he has to take it, but if it isn't he should try and arrange a voluntary for early next year and see what happens in the aftermath of PBF-Hatton

err cos two of those are retired the other semi by all accounts tho no problem if he fought castillo for me.

I think Castillo has a suprise up his sleeve for the next big fighter to take him on...nothing has proven him to be shot, bar Hatton ripping him apart..

Is Malignaggi low risk-high reward?? Nah, I think its a great fight and if Witter wins it his reputation will increase 10 fold...

I love the way Witter fans talk about how KT and Castillo were over the hill but laud the performances against Corley(perennial loser) and Harris(destroyed to Maussa)

Lets keep a sense of realism, Hattons names a far better but all opponents are respectable, theres a differance between having seen better days and being shot

Won't that depend on Frank and Mick working together though, history doesn't fill me with much optimism.

I don't think its a case of Hatton being charitable by giving Witter the fight, its more a case of Hatton stepping upto the plate and fighting the best 140lbers.

Witters not dependent on Hatton, he has his forged his own excellent career.

We strongly disagree on the reasons why Hatton won't fight Witter, him not wanting to give Junior money is a feeble excuse, its piss poor for boxing and portrays Hatton in a petty spiteful light. Its a good job Liston didn't mind Ali having a payday.....

Cant disagree that it doesnt paint Hatton in a very good light..he openly admits its spite, I just believe him, thats all..

Witter careers time sensetive, hes 33...and until Friday night people thought he was getting past it..get a big fight NOW

The only fights that are bigGER than Harris at 140 are Malignanni and Hatton (possibly Rees over here), so hes not got many BIG fight options and I agree he should take any of those that are on offer, but Hatton is obviously the BIGGEST by a country mile and the one that most would prefer.

Juniors 33, but hes a young 33. He always looks in good shape and doesn't blow up inbetween fights and hes never been in a 12 round war, I think hes got a fair few years left in him yet

Torres and Holt are far better than Harris, Harris was pretty much yesterdays man..beating Lazcano(just) doesnt earn him mega credibility in my eyes..

But take one of these fight, I say Paulie cos of the money but dont sit around waiting for Hatton, lets not have 18 months of 'why wont Hatton fight Witter, cos hes a biatch, thats why'

If you want to see and talk about Hatton-Witter put it in the boxrecsim, this is a new dawn for Witter, lets get positive, Witter can leave the 'Hatton wont fight me, thats not nice' comments from now on in..

I meant to mention Torres is my last post, Torres-Witter would make for a cracker IMO. Not seen or heard much of Holt other than some dodgy stoppage last week.

Nobody is saying Witter should be sitting round, we're just saying that Hatton shouldn't be dismissing him as an opponent as he has been doing.

Thinking about it I'd like to see Witter-Torres get made next (obv Hatton excluding)

Hatton is the one who fights SHELLS.

Face it.

Nd'ou went on to win a world title, Lynes the European and Kotelnik a draw for the Word title.

What did ANY of Hattons opponents go on to achieve?

Answer that!

Maligannninjinnni beats Hatton!

Either of those would be good names but bigger than Harris? I don't think so, Torres has got 2 gifts in his last 3 and Holt was probably robbed from a win. But Holt is pretty chinless himself as you can see in his first loss but he does have some decent skills. Torres is easy to outbox and easy to hit but is a puncher yes.

If Witter could get either of them he'd look pretty good knocking them out. US TV isn't killing themselves for either though as their fight didn't get aired.

Being a legend means nothing.

Ali is a Legend - but I would pick Danny Williams to beat him today...just!
