I have seen Shane fight a few times and each time he has impressed me. However looking at his record shows that wins are not neccessarily good wins. At 29 he needs to step up in class.
I would love to see him go to the states and get someone in the top 20. Otherwise he will just tread water.

Totally agree, Chauncy Welliver is always fighting in NZ why the hell havnt they made the fight already. Cameron is ducking him IMO. He is getting on in age and Welliver would be a step up for him and maybe its to much of a risk. But if Cameron is serious about his career he will need to step up soon.

Shane Cameron has signed with promoter Gary Shaw. He will be fighting for a lot bigger prize than Chauncy Welliver. If the fight is to go ahead it will be in the US .

David Tua people had $250,000 for a Cameron to fight in nz but turned it down.

If Tua wins a World title, is it likely he will defend it against Cameron?

I'd pay to see Cameron V Tua.

Tua would make short work of Cameron in my opinion, I dont think Cameron is world class if he was he would have stopped Mirovic in 1-2 rounds. I couldnt see Big Bob lasting more than 1 minute against Tua.

Tua's biggest problem against Mirovic would be the height and reach difference. Big Bob once went the distance in an eight rounder with Valuev. Tua would beat him, but I doubt that he would KO him that early.

Personally I would see the fight lasting 11 seconds and that is including a full ten count...

According to the schedule, Tua's next fight is in Sault Sainte Marie (pop 80,054 (2002)) in Michigan against an unnamed opponent with a "who are they?" back up card.

Doesn't sound like a title fight to me.

I said should be..... At the end of his last fight they said something about Tua getting a shot within 12 months

there is alot of heavyweights out there getting shots that I think don't deserve it. Tua isn't one of them.... I feel that he would beat all the current Champs hands down...

Getting back to the original comment, who would you want Cameron to fight? People talk about Cameron fighting Welliver, who is rated a long way behind him, then talk about him going to the States and fighting "someone in the top 20".

Who? Tony Thompson? He is the highest rated Yank. The top rated 6 are all Eastern Europeans except Peter, who is African. Cameron has been to the USA and won all the fights he has had there, mostly by early KO. The USA is just not where the cream of heavies is anymore. He would be better off going to Germany to fight. Valuev, maybe? Cameron KOed Mirovic, and that is more than Valuev could achieve.

Oleg Platov for the IBF Inter-Continental title would be a smart fight to get him higher ranked in the IBF... Colin Wilson almost beat Platov so I think Cameron Vs Platov would be a good logical move.... Rob Calloway, Timo Hoffmann, Peter Okhello or John Ruiz thats where I think he's at. Those Fighters are the STEP UP for Shane Cameron.

Cameron would have a hard time getting any of the fighters mentioned in the ring, I reckon some would be winnable most not. It will be interesting to see what he does in fact end up doing...

Word on the street is Team Cameron are trying to set up a date with Fres Oquendo in the US

Oquendo is a nice step up, but I feel hes the wrong sort of fighter for Cameron right now, Fres can box well and is tough. Would be an interesting fight however.

In regards to Tua VS Cameron i think Tua stops him inside of 6. Cameron is taylor made for Tua hes comes forward likes to brawl is hit easily, cuts easy, short, average jab. Tua TKO5

In regards to Welliver VS Cameron it would a be a huge fight down here in NZ Welliver has every chance of beating him to. Cameron cuts easily and Welliver wont be going anywhere Cameron wont be stopping him in this fight. Welliver UD12

Oquendo is rated behind Cameron and Welliver is not rated in the top 100. Surely you can do better than that?

Oquendo is a step above anyone Cameron has fought, so it makes sense to me. Its not all about the ranking its, about building Cameron up as a boxer. There is no point in going the same way as so many before him (feasting on scrubs then stepping up to world class and getting pumped). It is a step forward, if he wins it certainly won't hurt his prospects, if he loses he doesn't really deserve to go any further anyway...

Well, so long as you have fighters jumping off bridges to avoid fighting Cameron you will have a problem.

How about Chris Arreola? He is 21-0 with 19 KOs and on the edge of the top 20. Most of his victims seem to have been ordinary Americans.
