Was FW right after all...

looking back, and i know retrospect is a wonderful thing. when FW was ditched by RH in favour of other routes, we all scowled when FW told us he was fed up with the interference from RH's father etc..and FW told us the RH was being allegedly too influenced by his fathers financial interests.

but...

whilst i give RH (punch proms) kudos for securing the PBF fight etc, there are still question marks as to whether he should have stayed with FW and if he is now only chasing the £'s and not his boxing legacy ! there has been a series of major titles and belts acquired, only to see these relinquished in favour of more £'s.

has punch proms alleged pursuit of the £ led to fragmentation with Dennis Hobson ?

why did punch proms take the PBF fight in the venue they did with the promoter they did when they new all along that there would be less than 4K of tickets available for their superb real fans?

of the 4K of tickets that are available, who is in control of their distribution and allocation and how many will find their way to the true fans that have followed RH every step of the way?

are the hattons doing their fans a dis-service in choosing this fight venue?

surely a full football stadium in britain would have been better reward for these supporters and would generate the same amount of coin given the potential size of the crowd and the fact it could still be on PPV?

id like your thought on these matters guys.

I don't think it's just a "cynical money thing", because he's hardly coming in to lose. Hatton loves the big stage, having his name up in lights, being the centre of attention, showbiz, etc.

but after the kostya fight...we all hoped for the ultimate fights..and we got maussa and urango etc. money makers yes...belt accumulators yes. but then the belts were ditched and the money was pocketed !!

the castillo fight was not the big thing as far as im concerned, castillo was definately past his sell by date and i said that before the event.

the PBF fight is massive, and just the kind of fight hatton should be securing, but im disappointed to say the least to see hobson have his nose pushed out and hattons fans have their noses pushed out too.

im sure warren and hobson could have worked together to secure a massive event in the Uk, or hobson and hennessy.

This topic has been done to death already. Hatton was definitely right to leave FW. His career wouldn't be any better off with Fwank (look at Calzaghe).

Hatton's mistakes if that's what you want to call them have nothing to do with his new promoter and everything to do with the fact that he wanted to milk things for a while to make some easy money.

Now he's done that it won't matter so much when he loses to Mayweather in December, because his pockets are already loaded.

Whats the matter with people like you rhino?

He's fighting the number 1 p4p fighter in the world - Get over yourself with your typical British mentality :P

And just to add there is no doubt in my mind that Hatton would have followed the Calzaghe route if he had stayed with Warren.

im in favour of the PBF fight, of course i am..but if you bother to read the post in all its glory...im disappointed for the hatton fans..and im concerned just who will get their hands on these tickets as im not sure who has the power of distribution and whose decision it is to decide where they are distributed.

I cannot see your point of view on this at all.

The best thing Hatton ever did was leave Warren. Sure, Sports Network built up a great reputation for Hatton and a very healthy bank balance , but under them he would 'NEVER' have reached the hieghts (or the money) he has now. He's a 2 weight world champion with, i think, 4 genuine world titles to his name. He's now fighting the absolute undisputed P4P #1 in the sport (has there ever been such a clear standout #1 P4P as Mayweather is right now?). His legacy is cemented, he will now be remembered as one of Britians greatest ever champions, and if he beats Mayweather, the greatest ever! You would be a fool to believe he could have achieved that under Warren!

Under Warren Hatton would have continued fighting the same old oponents , irritating fans to death with the talk of fighting the likes of Mayweather brought up at every post fight interview. It fcuking irratates me just thinking about that peroid where Warren milked Hatton and Calzaghe to death. Us fans were strung out to dry!

You would have to be a blind fool (or a nuthugger) to think Hatton was wrong to leave Warren!

but what about the supporters who warren helped build up for hatton, the MEN with nearly 30K in regularly, all following hatton if he had fought peter buckley.

where is their opportunity now, they are denied the opportunity to follow their hero, there are only a handful of tickets and only the wealthy will get their hands on these..

hatton is not paying his fans back for their loyalty, if he had still been with warren, then surely his finest hour(s) would be witnessed live by tens of thousands..

now that is what im talking about !

Whatever dissapointing decisions I have seen Hatton make since leaving Warren (and there have been a few) I think they were all worth it for his fight with Castillo and his fight in December. Whatever happens.

What other way could Warren have secured a better legacy than fighting Mayweather at the peak of Floyds power, at the weight that suits Floyd, at Floyds home patch. This is the ultimate fight... the ultimate. This would out do any single achievement by a British fighter.

Plus he fought the generally recognised most dangerous fighter for his 140 lbs belt in his last fight.

Sure the Collazo and especially Urango fights were mistakes... but he has got the big one, what more can we ask.

Of course Hatton is after his legacy, if he was after the £ he would be fighting Gavin Rees at the MEN.

Now, I don't live in Manchester so I am not one of the 30K that are missing out seeing Hatton fight at the MEN. But really, I don't give a stuff. He is fighting Floyd Mayweather in Vegas at 147 lbs... What more can the man do. He will lose, but fair blooming do's for fighting.

The MEN fights would be the easy option... the money option.

I fail to see your point, Rhino.

If you want loyalty get a dog.

Las Vegas casinos run boxing with their site fees

A MEN fight at 2am would not have generated the same money from TV

Mayweather is the big name that brings casinos and HBO ppv

No way Mayweather would come here to fight. Like it or night the big fights happen in Vegas.

And as for ditching belts in favour of money - why wouldn't he? Once you have the belt in your living room why would you continue to defend it against no-marks when you can get more ££ & better fights by ditching it? Remember, the IBF stripped Hatton a fortnight after he beat Urango for it.

Would you rather spend you 60s in your mansion reminiscing on your fights against the best in the business or in a 2 bed semi with 10 IBF defences under your belt???

One thing Hatton missed out on by leaving Warren was a chance to fight on ITV - The name joe public knows is Amir Khan not Ricky Hatton - Hatton is in the newspapers and gets mentioned enough on ITV but the public dont really know him unless they have Sky -ITV were well upset when they found out Hatton wasnt part of the Warren package - I do think Ray Hatton was a problem for FW but if he wasnt getting the right fights for Ricky then Ray had good reason to complain - Its hard to say without knowing all the facts if leaving Warren was the right decision - At the time I thought it was complete madness but with Rickys success since maybe they did the right thing - I do see the point Rhino is making about ticket allocation seeming unfair and that ardent fans will not be able to see the fight live - Again not knowing the facts and how the system works its hard to comment - It is however obvious the fight had to be staged Stateside and surely for such a superfight the biggest venue should have been selected allowing for a huge number of British fans to attend - I see the fight being on a par with Ali/Frazier and talking to a couple of American contacts I have, one in Nevada they agree but then go on to quote RJJ and BHops and of course Iron Mike who in their opinion was the only fighter to equal Ali - It certainly has to rank as one of the biggest non HW fights of all time and one way or the other it should go down as a huge peice of boxing history, most definately if Hatton wins - My son in law is rarely ever wrong picking the winner in a fight and he says Hatton will stop Mayweather mid rounds which I also believe will happen - If I was a gambling man, which I am not, I could have made quite a bit of money from his predictions - He expects Hatton to lose the first couple of rounds and then start to land the body shots - He thinks by midway Hatton will have Mayweather down and like Castillo he wont go on - We shall see but dont write Ricky off, he is capable of pulling off what most consider impossible.

Fair call, but then why not bring up this thread when these fights were on (and many agreed and were disgusted with them)... not when Ricky is fighting the P4P number 1.

Mmmm...... Maussa, IBF champion, becomes unified champion. Collazo, WBA 147lbs champion, becomes 2 weight world champion. Urango, IBF champion, becomes 4 belt champion.

Thats what he achieved in his first 3 fights post Tyszu. Now lets look at his last 3 fights pre Tyszu.......

Carlos Wilfredo Vilches - Micheal (the contender) Stewart & a well past it Ray Oliveria. Your point is mute mate!

As for the tickets.they are giving people who have been to watch ricky in the u.s.a the priorty by getting them to send in the ticket stubbs or other proof, along with an application form with there details on, and its going in to a lucky dip scenario.some fans will be disappointed but you cant please everyone and this seem s fair.

So what you are saying is amongst other people that you are happy with the 3,900 allocation.

You are happy that despite assurances, Travel Companies will be selling those tickets at inflated prices thus exploiting the goodwill and loyalty of Hatton fans by having to dig further into their pockets for what is already going to be an expensive occasion with flights and Hotels to pay for - If these companies have not got tickets how come some are already advertising the event!!!!!!!

You and others are happy that despite only having a 3,900 ticket allocation as stated in a previous press releases that over 55% of the 3,900 ticket allocation is the more expensive tickets - which need I remind you are $1000, $750, $650, $300 and $150.

You are happy like all of us that Hatton is fighting Mayweather I don't think anyone will disagree with that, it is going to be a fantastic occasion but many hundreds in fact probably thousands of Ricky Hatton fans will be coming home in debt up to their eyeballs having had to pay extorniate prices for flights but worse still due to the derisory allocation of tickets they will have no choice but to buy tickets from touts to see their hero box.

will have no choice but to buy tickets from touts to see their hero box -Quote from Albert - Seems all wrong and just like cup finals at Wembley - Too many fans and not enough tickets, the ticket touts make a fortune out of ardent fans who just have to be there - 3,900 tickets can only mean those with real money will be able to afford them - I shall be happy enough in front of my 37"LCD cheering Ricky on.

I will also be watching from the comfort of my front room.

I envy the thousands of fans who will be going to Vegas, it is a fantastic place.

What angers me is the b ollocks going on in the media about certain people being concerned and upset on how the fans will be in Vegas without tickets.

If they were that upset, how about putting in some money that is being earned or whatever in this fight for the fans to watch the fight in Vegas for free, yes why not those who have spent absolute hundreds of pounds getting too Vegas in the first place, why are they being forced or asked to pay up to $50 to watch it on a screen, why can't either Golden Boy or Team Hatton put the fight on for nothing - after all it will be those fans who will be pumping in thousands of dollars into the casino's in the first place.

This fight is exploitation at its very best.
