betfair: Will Khan be world champ by 1/1/2009?

This has been up for a few weeks on betfair (click specials under the boxing markets.) The line is will Khan be a world champion by 1st January 2009 (midday btw :P ) The stipulation is that he wins a world title belt from the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO or, interestingly, the IBO, although given Franks lack of dealings with the IBO it's a tad irrelevant anyway. I also don't have the heart to email bf asking them, "do you include interim titles or super champion status? and what about an interim super champion who unifies leaving Khan as sub-super interim champion?" and that sort of thing.

Anyway, due to there being over a year to go for this market, no one wants to tie their money up for that sort of time, but I thought it would be an interesting twist to ask you lot.

So, will Khan be a world champ (as in major belt or IBO) by the start of 09? Yay or Nay, and what odds would you want to back or lay?

I doubt it, Unless some of the belts are vacant i cant see him winning one of the big 4.

If Rees can win one, I don't see why Khan khan't.

Unless a big upset happens along the way expect Khan to have a title belt by then. It will probably against a weak belt holder like Rees or someone as equally a low level (with no disrespect to Rees)

Its a nay for me, he has a lot to do before getting a world title - Jon Thaxton isnt good enough for that and no way could Khan beat Thaxton right now - FW wont risk it too early and my bet is it wont be until he reaches 20 and 0 which rules out winning a world belt in 2008.

for me Khan isn't taking positive enough fights if he takes on Rinabiv/Zoff/Thaxton et al in the next 5 months then maybe so untill then I remain compleetly unconvinced, what kind of odds are there on this one?

YES IN TIME THE IBO WBO & THEN THE WBC WBA IBF GIVE THE LAD A CHANCE.

I don't want another calzaghe i.e. someone with bags of potencial who spends years taking on second rate opponents and never realises his full potencial.
