I only really watched the first couple of episodes of Hell's Kitchen but watched the final (until it was time to switch over for Kath and Kim).

I see that Barry won it.

First of all congrats to Barry.

I know he's not popular with everyone but hopefully even critics will see that Barry has been good for the sport. He portrays a respectable, intelligent side to boxers and boxing and, if nothing else, shows how popular fighters can still be.

I've read some people saying Barry swallows the dictionary in his fight analyses but I say good for him. It's a far better thing than listening to the nonsense and drivel spewed out by 99% of professional footballers in this country. There's nothing wrong with trying to better your vocabulary.

Barry stayed calm, worked hard and maintained his composure (most of the time). In this age of dumb-down, quick-fame, no-talent, short-cut, aspirations its good to see someone acting in a way that is positive and self-affirming.

Boxing needs these corss over talents who attract mianstream audiences.

Good luck to Barry in the future.

I don't agree with Barry alot of the time when he's on about boxing, but good luck to him. Hope he cashes in on winning this program.

I have always liked Barry, and there is nothing wrong with the 'real' him
I think most of us get annoyed when he spouts out what his paymasters tell him.
However it is his job and most us would prob do the same thing
He has sold his soul to the devil tho!

I'm delighted for him. He should have a much higher profile than he does and he has always shown boxing in a good light. He's very articulate and speaks a lot of sense (except when he's talking on ITV - that's no fault of his own, the producer tells him what to say) and just comes across very well. His son Shane is doing well in the amateur game.

His son does look pretty good, in a recent clash of sons of champs, Shane Mcguigan outpointed James Metcalfe , son of Shea Neary

and barry's a pretty good cook too.

I have always wanted to know what happend to this Kid Barry profiled on GMTV about 10-12 years ago. He was only about 10-12, but he looked absolutely mustard. It was part of a "make my dream come true" thing that GMTV were doing. This kid was perfectly healthy (cause they normally do that thing with terminally ill kids) and Barry was geniunally astounded. His skipping and bag work was impressive.

Leon I think was his first name.

To be honest Ian, I wasn't expecting a daft knockabout piece period, let alone anything of intrinsic value.

The article just came across as an unnecessary cheap shot at McGuigan.

Oh you're right there. But you have to admit that boxing is crying out for satire. Steve Farhood is one of the best at this (though I know plenty of people on here don't like his stuff, I'm a big fan).

Thanks for the reminder Ian. Some of Steve's work from KO in the eighties was fantastic.

I think I will dig a few out and have a read.

Steve Farhood is a good lad too, KOA.

I met him ringside a couple of years ago when he was doing US telly for a Hatton fight.

I introduced myself and said I was a long standing fan of his work...he said he had read some of my stuff and liked it - he might have been bluffing but it was nice of him anyway!

I find him really witty and very knowledgeable but I know he's been slagged on here before.

Boxing certainly provides plenty of material for satire, that’s for sure

I see a column on BBN sending the peripheral stuff up. That would make good reading, but presumably wouldn’t do the writer or site any favours.

Adele Silva was saying in the paper she couldnt take her eyes off barry's body when he came out of the showers in a little towel. Now she wants an 'older' man.
