Due to US tv wanting to show the Calzaghe v Kessler fight at primetime in the USA, the fight between Calzaghe and Kessler won't go on until after 1am on the Sunday, probably nearer 2am.
So that means that there is going to be thousands of fans trying to get out of Cardiff at 3 in the morning. And no trains running.

Awful planning by the promoters, and very unprofessional, ofcourse.

Stiill, as long as a load of fat septics can hunker down onto their couches at prime time and get stuck into their 6th meal of the day whilst enjoying an all European unification fight, it somehow seems to make all the aggrevation worth while..

Promoters care about PPVs, not fans. Anyone who feels diferently is surely deluded.

Anyone from Boxrec going? Got my tickets last week, can hardly wait.

anyone think Calzaghe's previous experience of this sort of fight time will give him an advantage?

I hate staying up In the early hours for most fights but this fights worth It.

I don't know why there giving Into American demands though.

At least you can get actaully get a ticket for this and the promoters have not given all their allocation to 'friendly' touts who can screw their fans for as much as possible whilst they keep a clean face and get PR spin to the public.

What I want to know is if 3,900 tickets were sent to 'Team ?' and only them in the UK, how did so many touts, travel Agent and Ebayers manage to get so many to sell and the fans didn't?

I'd agree with you if this fight was actually on PPV. It's on regular HBO.

Calzaghe doubters can never be pleased even If a prime Jones Jr was teleported to 2007 and made to fight Joe and Joe beat him.

I was under the impression that the fight was made because of Setanta. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems Setanta's involvement merely caused the AOK from Calzaghe's side. Kessler hadn't even signed when the fight was first "on", so I'm thinking the bout needed HBO's involvement to bring Kessler on board/match the Dane's terms.

So in truth we were lied to a fair bit. Lots of little porky pies. We all got excited when in truth it could've fallen apart any time. I saw the official recent presser where they were waxing lyrical about HBO making this fight happen, when I'd already heard weeks (or was it months?) before that Setanta had made it happen.

It sounds like a right bastard to make fights like these. But anyway, staying up for these kind of late fights fvcks me up a fair bit & puts me in a total strop the next day. That said, it does have a sense of occasion staying up to see something.

Who's moaning? Ah right one or two posters. One or two posters doesn't make a forum. Why not direct your replies to them in future instead of isolating the fanbase as a whole. That isn't good PR either.

Because in the past i've spent my money to watch Calzaghe, and then freezed my ass off wandering round Cardiff early in the morning, ended up in a god forsaken town about 10 miles away, and stayed at a shite B+B.

I'm happy the Kessler fight is on, will be great , its just after thats not so good.

There's not many hotels in Cardiff, or i couldn't find them.

so when folk bought their tickets it was gonna be finished before midnite, they move it to 1 am nearer 2 am by the time its all started 3 am finish now and many face 4 hours in the freezing cold in November wainting for a train home.

you do the math.
Got nothing to do with the fight itself just the scheduling.

What do you expect peope to say " aaah great 4 hours in the pissing rain and cold in a train platform brilliant I love rain and trains me."


By the way if anyone is interested I know a good limo service if there are 6 or 7 of you going it might be worthwhile looking into, I did it for Hatton Zoo cos of similar circumstances and think it worked out around 150 a head between 6 to Manc so cardiff may be a tad more but not much. Bearing in mind a train ticket is half that and we got picked up and taken to the door of the MEN and home it was money well spent was home by 7.30 am from manc having had 2 hours kip on route.

No I don't think 1am is going to seriously inconvenience either fighter - with the type of adrenaline flowing they're hardly going to be in danger of falling asleep.

And obviously HBO are the main players in making this fight happen cash wise - probably making Setanta's input look like peanuts I'd imagine.

So if HBO want it at 1am, well that's what has to happen, no arguments.

I'd guess they would really prefer it even later if poss. That's around 8pm Eastern time, but something like 5pm on the West coast. Not ideal times from their POV either.

No Hotels in Cardiff, err, when did you last walk around Cardiff.

What's the cheapest dive in Cardiff that's within a reasonable walking distance from the stadium?

Also the later start helps HBO in regards to competing for college football viewers.

It is great that over here you don't have all of the Hatton /Mayweather b%ll%cks just to get a ticket for the fight. It's a working man's sport, not bloody Wimbledon !!
But still doesn't make the idea of Cardiff in the rain at 4am any more appealing !!
