It looks like Ricky Hattons added 7lbs of muscle

Looks like hes added 7lbs of muscle as Rickys looking far thicker and stockier. He may weigh 157-160 on fight night. Not sure its a good idea if he has added that muscle, new muscle is rarely as fast, conditioned or as mobile although I'm, sure he'll come in ripped. Maybe his stamina and speed will be as good, his power should be better and his strength will be better. If he does make himself slower and not quite as fit it will play into Mayweathers hands

It's all in his head too. It looks massive!

He does look stockier, they are probably doing the heavy lifting in the very early stages of camp and then onto his normal regime. It's not easy gaining 7lbs of muscle and burning off the excess fat/weight at the same time. It's a lot easier to add the muscle and then cut the weight back after as your metabolism is increased by the extra muscle.

Why doesn't Hatton just dehydrate less water for the weigh Ins Instead of adding muscle? Adding Muscle Is the reason why this dehydrating crap existsfor some boxers.

When replacing the fluids afterwards as well their bodies haven't absorbed the water fully Into the rest of the body yet too so their bodies surely only have to rely on solid muscle to protect the body?

I guess so that he has the weight to push mayweather around in the way he couldn't against COllozo

He already has the weight to push Floyd around, Floyd ain't bigger than most Light Welters. He was pushing Callazo around still, just showed that his pressure fighting Is flawed.

Boxers rely on strength too much these days.

7lbs of pure muscle....... Do you guys know how long that would take?

Can;t see it myself.

He would need to drop a lot of cardio work and increase his strength training (ie weights) couple this with an increase in clean calories.

If he has - well done to Kerry Kays (his dietician, I believe).

Dropping bodyfat and adding mucle (especailly 7lbs of it) is damn near impossible.

I don't think so. It's the southpaw angles that he has prolems with. Go back to Magee and to an extent Thaxton and you see similar things happen.

Hatton probably has the best style for pressure fighting in the sport, because he has a solid balance, fast feet, and good sense of timing/distance.

It needn't take that long for a career long 140lber whos never attempted to add muscle, especially when a fighter like Hatton would lose muscle to make 140 as it is.

His pressure lacks defence and he takes shots while diving In. Even Castillo was landing straight shots but was not capable of hurting Hatton. Floyd has some elbow thing he does that could help him land shots on Hatton too, don't know how to put It In words though.

Floyd could time his shots as Hatton dives In too.

Kerry Kayes:

For the Castillo fight, at the weigh in, Ricky was lean and muscular and obviously he was 140, we have a chance to make him muscularly heavier, I'm not too sure with all his boxing training that we can get 7lb of muscle on him, in reality 3 or 4 pound is much more realistic. You are right, I will not be boiling him down to 140 plus 2, 3 or 4 pounds of the extra muscle which would be 143, 144, what is the point, he will be 143/4 plus 3 or 4lbs of fluid he did not have to get out of him, which means he will weigh in at 147. Again, you are right 147 is a much better platform for him to carb up, my guess and Ill speak to Billy and Ricky is that he will be fighting at 154/156lbs.

Agree with PN here... Hatton has been a junior welter weight since he was a teenager.

When you have held your body back for so long it doesn't take long to add muscle as your body is effectively getting back to its natural stage.

He probably isn't "gaining" 7lbs of muscle, he just isnt losing it :-)

Hatton will be 149 / 150 tops on the fight night.

It's already been widely written that this is his optimum fighting weight.

They have learned that the additional mass has a detrimental effect on his stamina and is equivalent to Rick wearing a rucksack, as witnessed against Collazo.

Scales dont win fights - speed, agility and stamina do.

Besides he wont need to push Floyd around - he'll need to be cutting him off and catching him !

This whole thread is incorrect

Ricky is overweight, after having time off after his win over Castillo. WHICH IS ALLOWED 100%

He won't have been near a gym in that time to lift many weights. He has not put 7lb of muscle, that is an exaggeration

Ricky will be in the shape of his life for Mayweather, make no mistake. Kerry Kayes is one of the most professional men i've ever met and worked with. He is THE best at what he does

Ricky will be about 150-152 max come fight night IMO

This kind of clears it up i think, but obviously we'll not know until fight night itself.

Ray Hatton :-

"Floyd has made no secret of the fact that he wants to fight at 147lbs, we have already accepted the fight from our end, and we will fight him anywhere in America, Central Park in a telephone box if we have to. We will say this now, and we hope that people understand what we are saying. Ricky Hatton will be fighting at welterweight, but Ricky will come into the fight as a light-welterweight because thats his best fighting weight, and we dont want to compromise his speed. The ball now lies in Mayweather's court, if he wants the fight, we are ready. "

"And a little footnote, does anybody realise Ricky Hatton came in half a stone lighter against Castillo than he ever has ? He usually comes in between 154 to 156lbs, Ricky came in at 149lbs, and thats his weight from now on. At one stage during training Ricky was at 9 stone 13. This was due to the fact he only had 8 weeks out of the gym after the Urango fight, and instead of having to spend the first four weeks cutting weight, he started straight on the weights, and we all saw the results."

"The Collazo fight was a disaster on all counts, we all got it very wrong, it was a suicidal move, that we all hold our hands up to, and something we have learnt alot from. We put the weight on in the wrong way, we had a very turbulent and short training camp, and Ricky won that fight on heart. "

Good insight. Cheers Gomez

It looks like the lessons of the Collazo fight have been learnt. I didn't realise that Ricky came in at 149 against Castillo, but he looked the sharpest I've seen him. Thats got to be the ideal weight for Mayweather IMO. I get more confident about Rickys chances by the day....at this rate I'll be predicitng a Hatton KO1 come fight time

I was sure against Tyszu he was reported as being 147/148 by Showtime but I could be wrong as kayes said 156 I think

I'm also pretty sure it was stated Ricky was around 147lbs on the night against Tszyu, although Kerry Kayes gives a heavier weight, so I guess he would know!

Also, for the Urango fight, I read Hatton was 149lbs on fight night.

Be interesting to see what both boxers weigh on the night come Dec.8? Floyd actually lost weight when he faced De La Hoya, weighing 148lbs at fight time, two lbs less than at the weigh-in.

I think it's very, very rare a fighter loses weight after the weigh-in.

PBF stated that they put down 150lbs when he was ACTUALLY 148lbs.

Well, there's a thing! I think it just goes to show that Floyd could still make 140lbs quite comfortable.

Jesus, even some current LW fighters probably out-weigh Floyd when they step into the ring.

Not Hatton's fault those old men lost, they didn't have to take the payday and fight him. Doesn't make him a bully really.

I think he'll badly lose to Floyd and more a Witter fan myself, but you go extreme. Who would want to wish what you said on anyone even If you do hate them?

that will teach him for being a bully and fighting old men adn the pedersons who could have gotten hurt badly.

im only sorry that witter isn't the one doing the damage, but floyd doing it is almost just as good.
hahahaha, absolute psychotic fucktaser
