He's puked before in fights. Might be a gumshield thing, as with Anthony Hanna.

It's the latex, I believe.

Smack in the guts has much more of an impact, and Tony was feeling rough before that fight

I seem to remember Larry Holmes being sick just after the bell in the 12th round ,when he fought Holyfield

I dispute that. I've been sick loads of times after 15 pints of lager - I was NEVER wearing a gumshield.

With a gumshield in, it can make you feel sick, as it restricts your breathing (it does for me anyway - others might not feel it so bad) thus giving you that feeling of bile coming up. Urrgh.

Bet the ring people enjoyed clearing that up. Wasn't there a bucket to hand?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - oh that gave me a gut-buster laugh  Thank you sir!

I can agree with the gum-sheild thing, if you don't have the right one (or it is not fitted correctly) the saliva can build up and if you end-up swallowing it in one go it can taste bloody awful. Just a thought.

best wishes

jesus..a pro sportsman should have a gumshield that fits, and gumshields dont make you puke, its the fact that you have drunk too much water etc in the 4 hours before the first bell, if your tummy is full and you get wacked in the guts then you will throw up !!

Aye, it used to make Anthony very congested as well. I remember on some undercard I was watching him and it was pretty quiet. Then he sniffed a load of phlegm back violently and hockled out a big lump on to the canvas.

All the women who were there, as one, went 'EURRRGGHH!'

is that an infringement on the rules or could he just carry on?

They can make you puke if you are allergic to the latex, or whatever. I saw him puke up at the Cafe Royal once. Ah, the memories...

Wasn't that the time you were drinking in the Torture Gardens? I'd say there's a good chance it may be latex related....
I'm a leather rather than latex man, so this wouldn't affect me. Anyway it is virtually impossible, not to mention potentially fatal to be sick whilst wearing a gimpmask.

I used to get really sick with the gum shield I used to wear in rugby. Especially when I had to get down for scrums.

I get a gag reflex when I get rubber in my mouth (if you see what I mean - I can see how this may read!)...I have to training with breathing apparatus for offshore work and it's a sod getting through it because the rubber/latex thing that goes in my mouth to help breathing makes me gag.

Anybody know the answer to this one. Can a boxer throw up and be allowed to carry on?

I'm sure there is no rules which does not allow u 2 carry on if such things happen.

It could of course give the referee the opportunity to intervene if the bout was 2 one sided, but as long as the fight was going ok I doubt anything would happen.

I know fighters that have shit themselves and carried on.
