So after Clinton's decent win in his fight with Julio at the weekend, Who what direction would you like to see Clinton go in now?

Personally I would like to see any of the following:

Antonio Tarver (Payday)
Bernard Hopkins
Zsolt Erdei
Chad Dawson
Glen Johnson

What about you guys?

Johnson is pointless, Hopkins won't fight him, Dawson is too dangerous and Tarver is crap, so i'd go for Tarver and get a few quid before retiring

Johnson would definately be my last choice....

Don't want to see Jonson again, your right hopkins will not I would go for Tarver if he will, and if he can win that have a go against Calzaghe who I think will take the fight if he beats Kessela that would be a good pay day for both.

I suspect hopkin's will only go for big fights and because he was schooled Jones loss Clinton isn't that in the states.

Right, there is a window. There could be a full year to find a big fight. For heaven's sake, target the Calzaghe-Kessler winner! Calzaghe - a natural for Setanta, and JC struggles to make 168. What more could you want? Pray for a Joe win, or offer him the fight even if he loses to Kessler, ffs it's too obvious & it's the ticket that Clinton deserves. It's not like they won't be able to agree on TV, is it?

I'd like to see Tarver vs Woods in the states - that'll be on HBO, then followed by Erdei in the Uk. Think Woods can win the WBO title if its not in Germany.

Then topped with Hopkins or Dawson.

some guy tried to make trouble months ago and he hit him. though i've not heard anything recent, he went to jail for something similar before. Is Dean is the all clear? Hope so.

Tarver may not fancy it, and he would poss say "I beat Jones, you lost to Jones, I'm a legend and I don't need you..."

boxrec have Tarver down to fight Green in December, though I havn't heard anything about it. Any truth in that?

Froch seems to be okay at his current weight and is ranked by the EBU and the WBC so probably wouldn't want to fight woods until he has at least wone one of those straps.

In all honesty Wood's needs to be aiming a little higher than bloody Froch anyway.....

Yes Froch is a capable enough fighter but the like's of Wood's/Calzaghe need to be aiming at top fight's only.

Its more of a fight froch should be calling for not woods.

True mate.....Froch want's to step up but I think he will struggle as the elite fighters see him as too much risk with little to gain.

woodsj ust doesnt have the backing to get the good fights, so if we are honest fighting JC if he loses is his best chance at a decent payday

very true. if Joe beats Kessler, he will go for Pavlik probably. Pavlik could end up a huge name and an absolute megabucks fight. But if Pavlik doesn't want it, Joe could end up listening to his body and gunning for the IBF belt belonging to Clinton...

Im not sure that Calzaghe has demonstrated the testicular fortitude to come strate off a loss to take a world title fight, I think its more likely to happen if he wins as a warm up for a potential hopkins fight.

It all depends what direction Clinton wants to go in and what direction Dennis Hobson and Richard Poxon think he should go.

If Clinton wants to keep his IBF belt I am hoping the IBF are a little flexible in their approach as it seems Glencoffe Johnson's names is being mentioned a lot ... whilst it is a fight some will not want to see I will say what was wrong with the last fight??

What was wrong with Woods/Gonzalez 2 despite many people whinging about it?

I know Clinton really wants to fight Antonio Tarver, that is the fight at the very top of his list.

100% with that. Calzaghe wasn't interested before, so he definitely won't fancy it after Kessler.

Edit: then again, Joe does love the thought of being a two-weight champ, and Woods is the ideal opponent for him (i.e. slow and predictable enough). I'm just thinking an easy win would cause that second belt to lose public credibility. Hopkins is still the prime target, which is depressing for the division; at least in commercial terms.

Calzaghe has talked it up befor when Woods won his title on the BBC comes to mind.

Woods has more than enough strength inside and short clean punches to give Calzaghe - probably the #1 British p4p - good argument.

Let's not forget what Woodhall and Reid were able to do: Clinton's bigger than them and with all due respect, he has got his game together more that they had, because he's done 4 defenses now & has beaten 3 top ten men at his weight.

Calzaghe is a very good fighter indeed.

But I do not care what anyone says whilst the victory against Lacy was very good indeed, many people went way over the top in their praise, I say this because who had Lacy beaten before and who has he beaten since to have such claims as being one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world?? please look at his record and educate me!!!!

Clinton Woods is the best Light Heavyweight in the world, no I would not have said that a while back but due to sheer guts, courage and good old fashioned hard work he deserves his place as the Number 1.

Do not tell me Woods is an easy fight for Calzaghe, no chance!!! Woods would at the very least give him one hell of a fight.

Woods should go to America and shock a few people there.
