Does anyone think stewart could cause the upset? I think his height could give thaxton a few problems but i see a mid round stoppage win for thaxton , similar style to the lawton fight. does anyone know if the balcony will be open tonght?

Now bloody chance - Thaxton will bust Stewart up big time in my view - if that is not the case it will be a reasonably big shock in my view.

Good call Boxerrob, Thaxton had an awful lot of trouble there. I agreed with the judges, not Watt and Nelson - I had Thaxton up at the time of the stoppage but only by 1 round.

It followed a similar pattern to the Lawton fight, but worse for Thaxton. Thaxton's balance looked a bit iffy at times - looked like the fights are catching up with him - but Lawton and Stewart have a style that is quite hard to look good against. The clash of heads seemed to be a turning point in this fight.

Thaxton looked better and more comfortable as an Authordox IMO.

Tremendous fitness again from Jonno (well both boxers), it what got him through.

Love to see Stewart vs Khan in the near future, he boxed VERY well tonight. Although I thought Jim had one of his worst nights on the commentary box (by Jim's standards) I thought he was spot on about Stewart's defense for a big guy.

I hope Thaxton has an relatively easy final defense of the British title and then go for Kastidis - there isn't much left in the tank now. His focus and desire cannot be denied.

On the undercard, Darren Barker looks a class act - I agree with everything Nelson said post fight. I love the way he puts his punches together. So relieved to see the ref in the Daniel Herdman not be tempted to give it to the prospect, definately the right call. I think Nelson could have been a little harsher on Herdman - his fitness was pretty poor, he didn't look in particularly good shape and he was blowing after 2 rounds. I think he needs alot of work before embarking on fight number 2... maybe even consider a return to the Amateurs.

I was with Jim, Stewart's long range punch picking had Thaxton confused and bemused at times. I think i had it level at the time of the stoppage, more poor British judging having Thaxton ahead by 5 points, they always favour the homeboy. Stewart's rally in the 10th was a last stand, he wilted in the 11th badly and was totally spent by the 12th. He said it was a lack of experience but i think this is just him, he is at his peak or nearly at it and this is his level.

He put up a tremendous showing and the concern was Thaxton was too wound up and over motivated and if Stewart carried more pop then it would have been different. Thaxton is all into this mind over matter, training your psyche into a winning mentality type stuff i think. He sat at ringside eyes bulging rambling on about determination and never quitting etc a bit of a rant it turned into.

I think the fact Stewart had not yet contested 12 rounds was a physical and psychological hindrance to him. He strikes me as a guy who has stamina worries. Knowing he could do the 12 and pacing himself would have meant he may have seen out the distance. They should stick him in with a tough, cagey South American type to get the 12 rounds in so he knows he can do it.

All in all good challenge from Stewart, Thaxton deserves the Lonsdale belt then stick him in with Khan. I think Thaxton was expecting another Lawton, to give a good account and then fold mid rounds. Very interested tonight to see how Khan deals with Lawton.

Oh yeah, that card was diabolical - I do think though Jim was a little OTT about Stewarts work. Especially giving the first round to him - Thaxton's effort gave him that round IMO. I think maybe Watt could have said that Stewart should be doing more to make the rounds convincing. Thaxton was wild, inaccurate and clumbsy - but sometimes aggression, not even affective aggression, can EDGE you a round (like the first on my card). Not saying Watt was way out of line, just thought he would normally say both sides when saying the scoring.

Stewart hurt Thaxton a few times, not majorly, but stiffend the legs a little. At times he looked the stronger - untill he gassed. I do wonder if maybe Stewart should think about moving up.

Making thaxton Khans manditory for commonwealth title

Good fight. Thaxton can't use counter punching vs these tall guys and can look vulnerable getting picked off with long punches. But he should be commended for coming after his challenger relentlessly.

He def in too fired up and fights like the challenger not the champion. That's obviously what motivates him though so he should just stick with it as long as he's champion.

Watt was and always is so biased towards fellow Jocks its ridiculous. Good fight, Thaxton was ahead I thought I can't see how anyone could have Stewart 2 up going into the last.

I think with the 11th rd knockdown Thaxton nose himself ahead. Really dramatic fight & I liked Thaxton's post fight comments.

I am confused, maybe its my age but I dont think so - You say tremendous fitness from Jonno and later you say but he doesnt have much left in the tank - You also want to see Jon have a relatively easy defense to keep his treasured Lonsdale belt and then try to get a fight with Katsidis - Isnt he supposed to be fighting Khan next or perhaps the one after? - Then there is the judging, from what Jon said even he thought he might be behind and IMO he was, and needed the stoppage - Barker is a class act as you say - Herdman is a perfect example of a very successful amateur finding the pro ranks a very different matter - On paper it didnt look a bad fight to take for his debut into pro boxing but it turned out a disaster for him - As Nelson said he lost his first three bouts so Herdman needs to try again and see if he can get his first win not just give up.

You cant fault Jons honesty, a really nice man - Froch sounded pretty OK to begin with and then he spoilt it all with his usual bullshit arrogance.

Khan will beat Thaxton.

Khan won beat Thaxton they never fight imo.
