Ojay seems to be stuck on 99 fights. its rumoured that ojay was going to get his 'ton' then retire from the fight game, its alleged that he has taken the easy option during some of his recent fights, i was very disappointed during his showing with darren barker at nottingham when he retired after the first i think. some would also argue that he was late getting to the venue..

would it be fair to say that abrahams and hennessey had a bit of 'previous'. something to do with ticket allowance a few years before, or was it FW and not MH, i cant honestly remember. was ojays effort v barker his way of getting the promoter back?

and now, with ojay stuck on 99, are the promoters having the final say? or is it ojays decision to give himself some more publicity !

personally im disappointed in how ojays career materialised, he definately had power and technique and was a decent operator in the embryonic phase of his career, but then sadly he seemed to go down down the route of 'survivor' to please his bank managers and promoters !!

i remember him giving freeman barr a boxing lesson when barr was wbo number one contander.

i remember him decking marlon hayes heavily and being on the verge of a stoppage win against the fancied yank until yet another mysterious retirement.

and i also remember his excellent showing against farnell, great atmosphere and lots of needle, personally i thought ojay shaded the fight but the referee thought otherwise.

shame how peoples careers pan out, the man had talent, and wasted it !

I remember a feature on him in Boxing Monthly way back in the day which was marking him out as one to watch.

Ojay has probably maximised his earning potential for the talent he had.

I'm sure he could get that 100th fight, esp if he was on a small show for small money, even if he has been ostracised by the bigger promoters.

I'm sure we would have heard if he hs had his license revoked

Anthony Hanna looks like he may get stuck on 99 too, especially after the bad knockdown in his last fight.

Buckley marches on though, just 12 more to go for the big 300.

OJ fucked himself on a FW show where he would have got his 100 - by moaning about the purse.
Now if what I've heard is right, he was taking the piss with his demands and it is rare for me EVER to say that because in the main I believe boxers are underpaid.
As a consequence off the show - and he hasn't fought since.

OJ's claim to fame has to be trying to kick Brendan Ingle in the chops through the ropes during his fight with Rhodes.
Priceless.

Dangerous move on Ojay's part, he could have lost a leg if he caught Brendan in the mouth!

This is my opinion and of course can be disputed but I had Ojay
sneaking it, you certainly didn't win every round in my opinion Arnie
but you could have pipped it. It was 10 (or howver long ago it was) years ago since I last saw the fight so my judgement is clouded through time.

I remember saying to an old balding an ugly Rhino - if Ojay gets the decision watch things kick off in here!!! - have to say though your lads behaved themselves and made a fantastic atmosphere whereever they went!!!

I loved when they behaved themselves by calling Takaloo a "Paki", and I did indeed love that atmosphere when you felt like you better find a different part of the arena to run to in the event Farnell lost. Same goes for Gomez and Brodie fans. Is there a theme here?

(Note: never actually did see significant crowd trouble involving these fans; just always felt like there an ever-present chance of a kick-off in the air with these guys)

Think you are being a little precious here mate - most boxers with a large support draw their fan base from football crowds and/or their local estates and pubs - alot of fighters have a selection of fans who can be a bit 'moody' and just are their for the beer, the fight itself and to have it bang off if the opportunity arises. Its sad but true.

You cant blame the fighter themselves. Just look at Rob McCraken for instance. He had a large loyal following and they took part in one of the largest televised riots ever at the NEC. Its what happens when big groups of drunk lads from different towns meet in a hostile atmosphere.

Rob himself is a gent and a lovely fellar - he just drew a lot of support from Brum.

No way is this exclusive to either Arnie Farnell or the manchester fighters.
