I was thinking of flying out to this but wanted some advice from people who have gone states for a fight.

Does anyone know how far madison square garden is from JFK airport? Is it easy to get to the garden by train or better to get taxi. also if you are booking a ticket do you have to pick it up at venue?

any help would be great! cheers

I bought my tickets for Cotto Mosley through ticketmaster and will pick them up via 'will call' ie pick them up at the arena before the fight.

MSG is easy to get to either way as its in the heart of Manhattan.

I'd get a move on though as these tickets will shift quickly

Once you get to New York its easy to get to MSG, I stayed on 8th Ave and it was 15 mins walk away. One thing about Manhatten is it is amazing how compact the Island is, so once you get there you'll have no trouble at all. Taxi's are everywhere!

Also airport buses run from JFK to Manhatton, its easy. Be a great event to go see and a great city. Good luck!

Depending on the day & time of day it will take about 30-45mins from any of the NY airports to Manhattan. From memory you can take the airtrain from JFK or monorail from Newark but a cab or a shared coach is usually more convenient.

New York is always good fun and because it's made up of a grid (streets run east to west, avenues run north to south) it's hard to get lost when walking around.

Accommodation is always expensive in NY so finding somewhere decent and not too pricey might be tough but once you're there you'll be able to do some Xmas shopping on the cheap.

There's a bus outside the airport that takes you direct to Times Square, which is a couple of metro stops or a 20 minute walk to MSG.

The Comfort inn Midtown is really basic and cheap, and right off Broadway and Times square, brilliant location.

I stayed here... Not bad.

A bloody site easier than comming out of Heathrow and finding your way to Wembley - Then again if you dont mind an expensive taxi ride, it isnt a problem.

i stayed there when i went to new york.

Don't forget to check out NBA and NHL when you're there. Tickets are dirt cheap for a restricted view if money's tight.

JFK is to the east but give yourself plenty of time and i can't see there being a problem

I heard a couple of fights have been added to the undercard. Joel Casamayor V Jose Armando Santa Cruz & Antonio Margarito V Golden Johnson. Any thoughts?

There are decent fights....not enough to justify claims by Bob Arum that it is the best undercard ever....both Casamayor and Margarito will be heavy favourites but can't afford to overlook their opponents.....win or lose against Mosley, i think they are looking for Cotto fight Margarito next...

another bout, perhaps more intriguing is Ortiz-Maussa.....Maussa's recent form line doesn't look good but he is a dangerous test for the highly touted prospect

yeah looking forward to maussa fight. him being so unpredictable should hopefully make it entertaining. cassaymore-cruz could be a sleeper. and i reckon johnson could upset margaritio in a good fightt. anyone been to the garden before? whats the atmosphere like?

I went to the MSG for Trinidad against Mayorga and the atmosphere was electric. There's a huge expat Puerto Rican community in NYC and much like they were with Trinidad, they'll be out in force to support Cotto.
Trinidad had Fat Joe rapping 'Lean Back' in the ring before he came in and the crowd were going mental, and then you should have heard the booing when a sharp-suited Bernard Hopkins made his way to ringside - pure theatre.
You'll have an incredible time.
