Sad news regarding Liverpool's former pro featherweight Tony Mulholland.

I always wondered what happened to him as he had a very exciting style and was great to watch. Not the update I wanted obviously.

I think that means one of them rolled over when they were asleep and accidently suffocated the poor mite.

Apparently this is a relatively common cause of cot death, parents are advised to put the baby in the crib

That is dreadful news & my heart goes out to them.

My wife and I are expecting our 1st baby in Feb and have been watching 'Bringing Up Baby' on a Tuesday, which looks at different parenting methods. One of them advocates sleeping in bed with the baby and there was a real debate about it.

Truly tragic.

Shocking news ...... and that's the very reason I never had my kids sleep in the bed when they were baby's .... I was always terrified something like that might happen.

Terrible Terrible news, I shall be printing off and posting the article to my brother who does allow his new born to sleep in the bed. Apparently, it has been edited as a good thing by that documentary/experiement on Channel 4.

I suppose it was an attempt to be funny without realising very few, if any of us, would find it so - Anyway the guy has apologised so hopefully he has learned something - Its a mistake many parents make just to get a nights sleep - Apart from the danger of rolling onto a small child its a bad thing to start anyway - Its very hard to get the child to sleep in their own bed once they get used to sleeping with you but it ruins your sex life also - You cant really enjoy doing the natural thing with your son and heir sleeping alongside - No, you have to be firm from the start and if it means sitting by their bed/cot for half an hour in the middle of the night tired and shivering thats better than giving in and suffering years of them sleeping with you - Some kids hear Mum and Dad get into bed and thats it straight in with them - I remember many years ago going to bed with a girl I had been out with a couple of times - We had been in bed a few minutes when I felt a thump beside me - I turned a saw a little girl who said "who are you"- I replied "errr just a friend of mummys" - After five minutes of further questions from the child I went downstairs and spent the night on the sofa.

Only just seen this; sincere condolences to the family.

I think the majority of us have done this. I certainly have had all my kids sleep in our bed at some point when they where babies. I makes you shudder because when you think back you know it could have happened to you. Very upsetting story. I know Tony quite well and was involved with his career. He is a great lad and will come back from this. Congrats to the two of you on your new baby. In my thoughts LM
