Hi all
I'm new to this forum & am looking for some help. I am trying to find any footage or hopefully the full fight that occured in Australia in 1972.
The fight was between Joey Santos & Jeff White on 5th May 1972.
I was a great war & I would love to see it again.
Any help would be great.
Attention Mods, if this has been posted in the wrong section please place in the correct area.

White was still Australian Welterweight Champion at the time of this fight. I think the fight was broadscast on Channel 7 or Channel 9 but I may be wrong. Perhaps you could make enquiries with the channels.

I remeber Joey Santos, a real good fighter in an era when the Commonwealth title was extremely prestigeous. Just had a look at his roecord? remeber rocco spanja? where would TV ringside be without guys like him.

I can clearly remember that Joey Santos versus Rocco Spanja fight. Rocco was too brave for his own good that night (as he was in his other bouts) and took a terrible beating from Joey.
No doubt, that accumulation of punches from Joey and ones from previous fights took a toll on Rocco and led to his death in his final fight with Hector Thompson.
RIP Rocco.

The Rocco fight was brutal no doubt! Manny; Joey's older brother was a great technician, so was Joey but he tended to fight more to entertain. If he had of boxed more he would have been unstoppable IMO. I spoke to Joey once & he told me that the Jeff White bout was what he counted as his last real fight. He said it took so much out of him & may have already lead to the damage that occurred in the Tetteh fight.

Yeah, and Roko's entire career was in 1970. One win and five losses. Game fighter too. He was the first of two boxers to die after fights with Hector Thompson. The other was US boxer Chuck Wilburn in 1976. Hector KOed both fighters in the tenth round.
