Sound is a bit out, but a brief scrap with Darren Colevile followed by a BBC documentary featuring Richie Woodhall on the class of 2002.

Might be of interest to a few so put it up for you.

I like Carl. But this was about 10 years ago.

When's he going to get a move on, Gomez?

In 2003 he said he was the pound-for-pound, sport-for-sport best in Britain. It's 2007 and he's still only British champion with about half-a-dozen Britsh World champions in boxing alone.

Will his European shot come in 2008 or will it come in 2010?

WBC #1 isnt he, so it wont be long before a title shot IMO

I thought somebody else had said he was dropped down to number two or three?

Here you go...

1 .- Jurgen Brahmer (Germany)
2 .- Carl Froch (GB) BBBoC/COMM
3 .- Dennis Inkin (Russia) INTL
4 .- Jean Pascal (Haiti/Canada) LATINO/NABF
5 .- Vitaly Tsypko (Ukraine)

They've got to be looking at an eliminator against anyone of those after the Reid fight.

I think there's more of a chance of Froch fighting Kessler if he wins than Joe if he wins. Joe will drop the WBC belt if he wins it whilst Kessler probably won't. Either way, he should have a chance to arrange a fight Kessler (if he won and stayed at the weight) or else will get a comparatively easy fight against one of these guys for the vacant WBC. I'd love to see him fight Mundine though.

I think he is going for the european fight belt next which should move him back up to one. Ether way he has to be close to an eliminator.

Surely Hennessy could make an eliminator with no1 Brahmer, and if Calzaghe wins against Kessler its almost certain he'll vacate so Carl could be WBC champ by next summer.

I agree that if Kessler were to win then Froch would have a shot at his title, but I don't think JC will fight him.

He needs a title fight in the next 12 months at least, he deserves it and you'd give him a good chance against any super middle, JC included.

Hennesy have dropped a testicle on the posters for the reid fight then, sure it says WBC #1 on them

Push for the eliminator with Braehmer would be my advice. Braehmer is a decent boxer but can be outboxed and was heavily dropped and hurt by Hector Velazco. He's so susceptible to the overhand right it's not even funny.

As for Froch-Mundine, imagine the hype and trash talking for that one!

With Kessler using Barker as a sparing partner, maybe a deal could be lined up for him to make a defense against Froch if he beats Calzaghe? Can't see a fight with Brahmer being made, don't think either will be keen to travel to the others backyard.

Brahmer's No 1 and Froch's No 2.

Froch was number one-rated until the most recent ratings, when the WBC saw fit to install Brahmer at number one after his revenge knockout win over Mario Veit.

Tom Podmore.

After Brahmer fought Veit in the rematch, Jurgen moved up a notch.

But Carl will fight for the Euro strap next against italian Cristian Sanavia which will put him back at #1 again.

He's only had 5 rounds in 12 months (Dodson 3 & Tatevosyan 2).

So hopefully Reid will give him some rounds and then maybe the euro guy will before his title shot.

Unless something else comes up ?

Hypothetically if Calzaghe wins and vacates immediately (as he stated) then it could be a straight eliminator with Brahmer couldn't it.

Or Interbox may want to do a fight with their fighter, Lucian Bute... or Hennessy's link's with golden boy may bear fruit - afterall Jeff Lacy has joined them now.

I think, unless Calzaghe loses, that fight wont ever happen - they dont want it, that was obvious when they rejected the Sky-backed purse offer of £2.5m.

I think if Kessler wins, Froch will fight him in Copenhagen - if he loses then it may be a universum fight in germany or nottingham against Jurgen Brahmer.

The above isn't inside info or anything - just there's no other scenario is there? unless Lacy or Andrade want a stateside opponent for big bucks.

One thing that is for certain is Froch wants a complete set of titles, ABA's, British outright, Commonwealth, European & World title.

If Calzaghe wins and moves up a division, then Froch could be instilled as another British champ at the weight and we would have more titles in this country. So it's not all doom and gloom.

I wrote over a year ago that Froch needs to be getting a move on...and how old is he now?

He is too old to improve, so what you see is what you get...
He is a fantastic puncher but if he ever gets his hands on a belt then his style will be easy to work out...Magee almost did it

With so many belts about, to be a champion means little...look at Clinton Woods.

Its how long you hold it and who against that makes the legacy.

So Froch has slipped down the rankings...but in all fairness how did he get so high...the best names on his record don`t mean a thing on the world scene.

I see him holding a world title, but like Woods, I see it not really getting him much further.

errrrrr....a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament does tend to slow your progress as a professional sportsman...to the tune of one year normally.

pound for pound I can understand the argument, but sport for sport....what the hell does that mean......it's funny is what it is !

At the moment it may look abit like slow progress considering the 5 and a half years as a pro, but Carl has a Lonsdale belt, he is very well ranked on the World scene and looks to be on the verge of a title shot or an eliminator.

If Carl is contesting World titles by the end of next year then I don't think his progress will be looked upon as being slow, especially considering the few injuries hes picked up along the way.I think I said this at the end of last year, but next year is going be a massive year for the Cobra.

The top 15 or so in the division are (or will be) quality operators from the 4 corners of the planet, I think the division provides a great opportunity for boxing to showcase itself by consistently making top-level matches (as in UFC). There will definately be no excuse for the likes of Pudwill entering our shores to contest a SM World title when you see the depth in the division, its a stark contrast to the SM division of the last 10 years.

Of course this is all dependent on boxers, promoters and politics not getting in the way :TU:
