Noticed a thread about underrated boxers, but what about underrarted trainers - Enzo is a bit unorthodox but really knows hos boxers.

I can think of 5 or 6 boxers in the ukk who he could turn into world champs.

Enzo amongst tthe world best trainers IMO!

I posted something similar in the wake of the Gavin Rees victory - it's only now that Enzo is getting his dues. He's suffered for years by virtue of being based in the 'wilds' rather than London or Manchester, and through having a parental relationship with his best boxer, which has obscured his relationship as trainer.
Definitely the best in Britain at the moment IMO and one of the best in the world

definately need to sit up and take notice now, my opinions on enzo have changed, not due to the astounding success of his son joe, nor the changing of fortune for enzo maccarinelli and the sudden impact of gavin rees.......but

im impressed by the way he has turned bradley price round, this former moody problem child is now an achieving consummate professional !!

In my humble opinion, Enzo has taken over from Freddie Roach as the best trainer in the world. I cannot think of a trainer who's had a better year for his fighters.

However, I'm probably biased.....what do you guys think?

It would be a good idea for Amir Khan to go with Enzo

Who would have thought that a guy with no previous experience in the training industry, would be in the position Enzo is now in, having established himself as one of the best trainers in the world?

What I like most about Enzo is that he doesn't tolerate any shit whatsoever. In a recent interview with boxing monthly, I remember him saying soemthing along the lines that his boxers come to the gym for 90 mins each day when not even training for a bout. They come to work, not fcuk about!

With Calzaghe snr, you get the impression that even if one of his boxers lost motivation, he would soon make sure they were bakc firing on all cylinders.

Very disciplined trainer in my view, & discipline is a great attribute for anyone to have! Just look at the stable of boxers he has got.

I was never sure about Enzo, especially in 2004-early 2006 - why can't Joe avoid a right hand? - but he has some major things with Pryce, Macca and Rees.

It's mostly the overhand single shot right hand he gets hit by. One in a combination doesn't touch him.

His boxers are all from Wales , and i can't see Enzo moving from his home there. Its not as if Wales has a huge depth in talent, so once these boxers have finished will Enzo seek out others

I think Enzo Macca had some of the same flaws as Khan and Enzo Cal has really brought him on.

I don't think Harrison has brought Khan on much.

Maybe Khan is too much the boss in the gym tho, Enzo does not put up with that

that's usually true so long as he's backing the other guy up and keeping him off balance.

Lead right hands and left hooks from the orthadox tend to be shots southpaws are most vunerable 2

I think I have to agree that he is underrated.

His record speaks for itself & like someone has said, if he lived in a big city or if he was American, he'd be lauded by all.

Enzo is a great trainer, no doubt.

Enzo C is without doubt britains best trainer right now and probably the best in the world - His dicipline with his fighters is the keynote to his success - Enzo is the boss, and the whole stable know Enzos methods lead to world titles - If Enzo did take on Khan, my view on Khan being no better than Euro would change.

Pretty amazing how well he's done with a provincial gymnasium in a converted cowshed isn't it.

Just shows that it's not the equipment that makes a fighter or a trainer, but their methods and their philosophy. Enzo never even boxed himself did he? Incredible really, and it just shows what people can do when they put their minds to it.

Enzo's a bit of a maverick really, and he's certainly an admirable talent.

I went to the gym about 10yrs ago and the floor was so rotten you could not use a lot of the ring, sparring was certainly interesting tho!
Conditions are spartan, it has all come on a shoestring budget and there is a very small catchment area for fighters in comparison to the cities
However due to Enzo's hard work, talent and Nazi training methods, he has developed a hot bed for boxing talent

Khan doesn't appear to have the greatest stamina. He looked on his last legs when the Limond fight was stopped, and I don't think that was just a result of the knockdown a couple of rounds previously. Any stamina problem would be rectified by Enzo and his training methods.
Not wishing to cast aspersions on the training methods in their current gym, but Jamie Moore looked pretty gassed quite early on Friday as well. Enzo C. is definitely the man of the moment.
