i think this is a better fight for greenie and a far better title which as a green fanatic makes me feel better that he will have..
a prime paul briggs dominated drews a few years ago at homebush and i think a rejuvenated green will do likewise. i can see him throwing thunderbolt right-lefts and work his body till he quits around the round 8 mark

Did anyone see the Drews vs. Briggs fight? Acording to Briggs in his book, when Drews started to get beat he got very dirty. If this happens again do you think will be prepared/cope with it?

I'm going for Green to beat him then a nice clash with either Woods and then Briggs or the other way around.

All he wants to do is fight and you could see his anger when he was commentating on Vic World Title!!!

Go for it Danny !! Your a F*(&$%$ LEGEND!

I was at the Drews fight but it was a while ago now, I pretty much just remember Briggs dominating him. Danny isn't adverse to rough house tactics so I don't think it will be a huge problem unless he gets too frustrated but I don't see it lasting long enough for Green to get too frustrated. Green should break him down pretty early and control the fight from there (if this is the fight that happens).

I bought the Briggs v Drews fight. Drews is a lanky, but was easily outworked. All Danny has to do is stay fit and no get frustrated. Drews is no power puncher, so Danny should be able to get on the inside and go to work.
This is a much better fight for Danny, and hopefully a meaningful world title.

Looks like the Septics cunninged up on themselves by trying to force Green to fight for chicken feed. Now they have to find somebody else to fight the boy while Danny fights for a more respected title.

Go Danny! :box:

Drews is 6'5" ( 195cm) tall and a light heavyweight? How much weight does he have to lose to defend his title?

Drews is not 6'5". It might say that on his BoxRec page but I have stood next to him, he wasn't any taller than me and I am not 6'5". It also says Green is 6'1" yet I have a photo with him where I am about a head taller than the bloke... Not sure what to make of that?

Either way I have never heard of Drews really struggling to make weight, maybe it is just his frame? Keep in mind that Paul Williams is a 6 foot welterweight. Also if the Briggs fight is anything to go by Green won't have too many problems finding Drews.

Interesting point. I know that Green has always been listed as 6'1" throughout his career. I have never met him in person, but have been told that I am clearly taller than Green (by a friend who has met Green) even though I am only 6'1 1/2" myself. Possibly this is because Green is a pretty solid bloke, and I'm skinny (only around 70kg/155lb), but I've heard a lot about fighter's heights being misquoted throughout their careers. My mate Robbie Bryant is about 5'10", yet he is listed on BoxRec at 5'8" for example. About how tall are you, Marlin? I would like to know how tall Stipe Drews really is.

I am about 6'3" so I would say Drews is about the same.

Ive met Green with my brother who is 6'1 and Green was areound the same height, Maybe 6 foot but no less than that, Drews looked much taller than Briggs but not sure about 6'5.

this is pretty big news, my internets been down for 5 days so ive heard nothing. this is a better fight imo, having the WBA strap could give danny some advantages in negociating other big fights

WBA strap would help in negots with mundane

IBO I dont think gives him ( Green) much at all

retain his title in perth with a win over mundane would be a nice end to next year

green vs drews

dose anyone really think this will go the 12 rounds?? no way i seen briggs vs drews and drews look like he had hit a semi he was amess if green jumps on drews he wont no wot hit him.green to win by the 6rd. :TU: :TU:

I belive Drews won the first 3 round by using his jab, Until Briggs changed hes fight game and came out with a monster left hook.

Drews is very good on the outside and would beat Green with speed -But all Green will need to do is come on the inside smash some ribbs or a jaw.

Why do we all asume that because Briggs beat him that Green will, Styles make fights and Green isnt good against fighters with quick hands and good boxing skills. I hope Green wins and am going to the fight but if Beyer and Mundine can beat him then so can Drews who only has one blemish on his resume.
Green needs to get the animal back in him like he had before he changed trainers, At least when Fenech was in his corner he was told what to do. When he was getting a beating from Mundine he wasnt being told shit they had no other gameplan.
