"punch stats" for ye olde boxing matches

I am curious to know what the punch out put would be for some of the
older fights, from what I have seen in the old footage, they seem to
average 10-20 punches a round. Maybe 2 jabs a round. Though this is
of course dependant on who is fighting.
I know many of you here do not place much on "punch stats" but for boxing is punching activity better than throwing a single shot and clinching ?
Would some one be able to post some punch numbers for heavy weight fights at the end of the 19th and start of the 20th centuries.
