well, he's delivered at the tail end of his career for the 2nd time. it's a shame he left things open for debate for so long.
Kessler was very out of sorts. I think he can go on to be a fine champion and IMO he has the beating of anyone else in the stacked 168-lb class. He's just too stiff to beat a southpaw like that.

Great win for Joe, but he didn't look great winning, if that makes sense.
Kessler exposed the flaws that others may take advantage of more fully before he retires, in particular that terrible habit of leaning in with his head down after throwing a shot.
Having said that this takes him well clear of Ottke for me and puts that particular argument to bed once and for all.

Simple incredible performance, I almost shed a tear whilst watching this great fight. I agree that his fight has sealed Calzaghe as an ATG. Amazing atmosphere!

The workrate and stamina and belief even when caught with big shots mark him out as a great of this era. No doubt at all in mind.

No, you're right, there's no-one at Super Middle now. Joe seems to think he'll be better at light heavy and I'd love to see if that's the case, but the guy I was thinking of when I wrote that was Chad Dawson. Spoken like a gentleman Pundit, and I realise what a difficult last month it's been for you with England knocking off Australia, and France in Paris and reaching the Rugby Union World Cup Final, and then of course earlier today Great Britain hammered New Zealand 44-0 in Rugby League.

To be honest I think Calzaghe v Woods would be a fantastic fight - toe to toe stuff.
The fighter who could really expose the flaws is in my opinion Hopkins - thats solely down to Hopkins fighting in his normal negative and counter punching way. Don't get me wrong I think Calzaghe beats him but have to agree horrible fight.
Chad Dawson as good as some say - actually think he is possibly over hyped - the Americans have to have some to replace their ageing stars thus hype up Dawson.
Think both Clinton and Calzaghe beat Dawson with ease!!!

Joe has to go down as a great, For some reason he won't fight top contenders - this really gets me - but he fights champions, current & former. He does the business.
I didn't think he could do this with a really good boxer but I was wrong.
Two brilliant performances over Lacy (whom we should be a bit kinder to) and Kessler do erase him not fighting Mundine and Beyer.
Joe's stamina, chin, speed & boxing brain are top notch. He beat a master boxer tonight. He can lift himself from awful showings to be the boss vs world class fighters.
If he's going up to light heavy why not test the waters with Woods? Woods is a bigger man & it'd be interesting to see what happens when CW leans on him and puts in a right hook/uppercut.
I wonder, will Hopkins really fancy it? Methinks not. Ditto for Pavlik & Taylor. Would love to see Joe v Froch, Inkin, Bute (who won't want it given he's just won a vacant title) or even Brahmer.

This win of Calzaghe's surely secures him a top 5 P4P spot. I'd have him right up there with Mayweather and Pacquiao. After tasting such a sweet victory, I feel that Warren & Calzaghe will both go for another big fight right off the back of this, 2 or 3 more fights and retire knowing his legacy is in tact. Hopkins would get dominated badly.
