If they mentioned it during commentary on the Joe show, I totally missed it. Is there any reason why Skelton's fight with the behemoth fell through? Don't think it even made it to weigh-in. Just scrapped, or an injury to Skelton or the Long one?

and more to the point, does anyone care?

The big old Beford bear is a nice fellar and all, but his fights fail to inspire me time and again..

Anyway, he'll probably be fighting Dimitrenko next, for the EBU title. I can't see how he turned down a world title shot against Maskaev when he won't have much more of a chance against Dimitrenko. And at least if he'd fought Maskaev he'd have had the whole of '07 to get back on track. ie. say Maskaev KO'd him in 5 or 6. No matter. Fight the stinker against Sprott, and at this point in time he'd be no worse off than he would have been had he taken the Maskaev fight.

Haye would smash him to bits.

Haye smash up Skelton? The old bear would be all over the playboy. Haye is not a huge hardcase brawler like Skelton. If Mormeck can have him on the deck, Skelton can do worse. Hayes stamina would give out.

Haha, no ducking that. I thought Mormeck would out tough him. I was out getting pissed but by all accounts Haye did a great job, big respect.

I like Haye think it would be great for a 200ib fella to mop up, but i think Skelton, Williams and Sprott, regardless of their chances of winning a world title, are too difficult for a crusier to get past.

Well Holyfield was no ordinary cruiser, and Holy was outpunching Qawi over 15 rds -losing a stone in the process- at the same point Haye was being used as a ring mop by Carl Thompson...

It would be great if Haye did it, but i think he will run into the same walls Vasilly Jirov, Alfred Cole and Carlos DeLeon found.

Other than Orlin Norris and Ossie Ocasio, you'll find very few crusiers who could even mix it up with heavies.

Haye is naturally 210=215 though and boiling down whereas Jirov just added 20lbs+ of fat on his jaunt up to Heavyweight. Haye can definitely make some noise at Heavy as long as his suspect punch resistance is down to the weight draining. I guess we'll find that out.

Lolenga Mock had Haye on the floor longbefore the weight draining talk ever came up.

But yeah, we shall see.

Haye vs Skelton makes a lot of sense on a lot of levels. Skelton is looking for a fight he has a chance of winning and brings in a few quid in this autumn stage of his career. Haye needs another test at heavyweight and this would be a meaningful and difficult contest.

Haye must forget about cruiser now, making the weight is killing his future and he knows it. This fight would fill a lot of seats.

Momeck has a fair bit more skill than Skelton, and imo a better puncher. JC Gomez would easily school Sprott, Skelton and Williams if you're gonna say they are above former cruiserweights. I don't actually think Skelton is this world class non stop brawler some people like to make out. Reckon Haye would stop him in around 8-9 rounds or win a wide UD. Yes Haye needs to ease himself into the heavyweight division but imo Sprott would be perfect

Gomez has delicate whiskers, remember what Yanqui Diaz did to him?

I could see Danny Williams knocking his block off late in the fight.
