watched it from ringside stood chatting to michael monaghan, kelly was caught in the first and dropped, he got up and weathered the storm and indeed nearly stopped his man in the 3rd i think it was, kelly was the better boxer by far but kept walking onto big looping right hands from a tired and desperate opponent.
kelly was stopped on his feet in the 5th i think it was.

cheers rhino, was a dangerous opponent for oliver after so long out.
i'd bet my wife's life savings that monaghan was complaining he was robbed!!! he does after every f k i n fight. he will retire in the next few days and be back in action in a month - guaranteed.

not so much complaining but thought it was a close one, im inclined to agree with him but im not saying he deserved to win, what i am saying is that the house fighter will generally get the nod in a close one, thats just boxing unfortunately, its not going to change.

I remember Kelly Oliver totally dominating the domestic amateur scene at light heavy for a good few years - back when the beeb used to have decent coverage of the ABAs - thought he would make a cracking pro but he never quite lived up to expectations for me.

Name rings a bell, i think Nigel Rafferty fought a Kelly Oliver many years ago, i had it on video tape.

he could have done a lot more. i wish he had kept at it after the rothmann defeat but he missing for a couple of years and lost all his momentum.
it's got to be over for him now though.

im not impressed with all the advertisements to be honest, only rarely do i enter their forum either, however, ill continue to write the odd piece for them, its something that i enjoy doing, especially the froch bills in nottingham.
