Maccarinelli: Tonight was the Worst Outcome Possible

What now for the big Welshman? I've been incredibly impressed with his progression over the years: He's added stamina and some skills to go with his not inconsiderable power. But tonight's result was a big blow to his career, wasn't it?

Haye clearly offers Maccarinelli's highest profile ad biggest money fight, but now Haye is riding off into the sunset on his way to bigger and better things against bigger and more lucrative opponents in the heavyweight division. Of course, Enzo could still take on Haye, but now Haye is The Man it won't be on allegedly's terms. There's no way Maccarinelli will carry well 215-220lbs for a catchweight contest.

Not only that, but Moremeck is now damaged goods. There's no big money left in the Frenchman for Maccarinelli now that Haye has demolished him.

If Haye had lost, he may have been able to dictate terms to Haye to force him into a big money fight at a weight more advantagous to the Welshman, or fought Moremeck for the undisputed title. Now it's gone.

It all leaves Cunningham, next to unknown in Britain, in what would be a high risk fight that wouldn't generate a huge amount of cash on its own.

There aren't even any fantastic prospects at 200, are there? Any fancy-dan, or brutal hitting, Americans to create some hype and interest?

After tonight, it seems that Maccarinelli will be spending rather a long time on the undercards or headlining at smaller venues in under-the-radar WBO defenses.

Its a shame, because Haye -- Maccarinelli would have made superstars out of both of them in Britain, and Maccarinelli could well have won. He shouldn't have demanded those options...

If Macca has said what is alleged to have been said over on the F'king Diabolical thread currently going, then I will say this...

FVCK Maccarenalli.
He can get in line.
Haye is the UNDISPUTED number 1 cruiserweight in the world

He is going to be a star.

Let Macca stick to fighting stiffs in his backgarden...Haye does things the right way :TU:

Well Haye just said he wont defend the belts.... BUT, say FW gets his wallet out (stop laughing at the back) and offers 500K, or even the 1 mill, for a massive fight which will garner (now) global attention... will that change?

I doubt Fwanky Biitch will offer the money, but he COULD maybe get 20k people to watch it but Haye is not giving Fwanky Options and HAYE might RUIN Enzo!

Haye's the man. He's got the looks, the personality, the balls to go over and grab te prize, the recognition, he'll probably have his heavyweight ranking when he goes back up to heavy, and holding WBA/WBC cruiser belts will not hurt his recognition one bit. When you look at all those dull guys waiting in line, and you have David Haye in the same queue, who's going to have the TV networks behind him pushing for the big fights?

Let Warren and Enzo chase title belts. Let them fight Azzaouis in their backyard. We know Enzo can fight, but it's often the same rigmarole with SN fighters. In a few years' time, hopefully some of the big fights will come to Enzo, because then we can see him perform to his full potential, which I admit is high.

based on tonights Haye and the Enzo that fought Braithwaite.... Enzo stops Haye at CW, IMO

You do realise that there is a HUGE, HUGE difference between the Mormeck Haye fought and the past it Braithwaite Enzo fought?(There was a pretty big difference between the two when Braithwaite was in his prime!)

Very different level of opposition and atmosphere, so a strange comparison to make.

They're not in the same league imo. I can't see Enzo going to Mormeck's backyard and doing that, even in the impossible universe where he would have taken that fight I just don't see Enzo having the boxing ability to do it. Nice trier and a big lad, but I don't see the world class talent.

:TU:

Enzo has'nt fought a top 10 cruiserweight yet.Possibly not even a top 15 if truth be told.

He will lose to the first truly elite guy he faces IMO.

Before tonight I quite liked Enzo(never rated him that highly, but he seemed a genuinely nice guy)but after the petty childish remarks he has made himself look a fool.

Fair Enough.... I honestly thought Mormeck looked ordinary in there tonight, a bit tricky but nothing great.... and the KD he scored was tame IMO... maybe im just getting picky, but I was more impressed with Braithwaite than I was with Mormeck tonight, but then there are 4 diff. styles on show

Enzo has a better chin then Haye maybe, but he's not got much more after that, I just can't see Enzo going 12 rounds without eatin some of those straight rights and going to sleep, and while Haye has a poor defense, he does at least have movement, which I believe would allow him to land his bombs first.

Probably was a a bit of a blow for Maccarinelli - no matter what he does now - he will have the never ending question - when will you fight David Haye.

Maccarinelli has a massive chance to clean up in the Cruserweight Division now and earn himself some BIG dough - if he can block out the Haye jibes - who will give a toss when the Bank Manager is delighted!!!

I have learnt a lot about boxing - you please very few and there will also be critics out there - boxing is about regardless of whether you think it is right or wrong LOOKING AFTER NO1!!!!.

Enzo Maccarinelli should carry on doing what he does in the Cruiserweight Division - he is not a big man like Haye and should avoid stepping up to the Heavyweight ranks to meet him.

Why is it that good UK fighters in divisions come in 2's?

Enzo/Haye
Calzaghe/Froch
Hatton/Witter

Seems to be a trend of one run away success and one lesser known but still very good domestic rival, then the trend also has the pattern of them never coming close to fighting each other despite the public calling for it.
