Flash would win this fight, no doubt about it for me. We are talking about one of the best and longest reigning jr. lightweight champions in the division in Elorde, whereas Mitchell while a quality fighter was nowhere near as good as the Filipino.
Elorde had the faster hands as well as the better footwork and mobility, he had a very effective jab and was also a very good combination puncher. On top of that he was a southpaw which poses its own set of stylistic problems for most opponents, and it doesn`t look good for Mitchell.
Now I am not saying Brian would get stopped as I believe he was tough and good enough to last a distance fight, but he was too slow of both hand and foot to really trouble Elorde who would get in and out of harm`s way with hsi quick footwork.
Brian would work his way inside eventually though and get some licks in, but he won`t be able to do it often enough to influence the judges in his favour I think. One judge might favour his relentless and dogged pursuit of Elorde, but even then I doubt he would be able to win enough rounds to make it matter.
Elorde has the longer reach and knew how to use it to his advantage, and I believe he would use it to full effect to outpoint the South African in what would ultimately be a competitive, but somewhat one-sided bout on the cards. Elorde by comfortable decision, by margins of 9-6 or 10-5 in rounds.
