just to clear a few things up here willie did not say "its ok if i lose i'll just go back to joinery" before the khan fight. as ppl have been saying, also willie did NOT get his jaw broken OR his nose. just a bit p*** off as i know how hard willie trains and the sacrifises he makes for ppl to come on and talk one load of bull about him. cheers :TU:

Willie Limond was quoted as saying those exact words so take it up with the BBC buddy. No disrespect or anything, but that is word for word what the BBC wrote.

Dont really think it was a long count, much as i dislike Amir Khan.

at the time of the fight i felt willie had knocked khan out as khan touched down during the count and to my mind was technically down for well over 10 seconds...
i said as much at the time...
i thought limonds jaw didnt look too bad after the fight when he was talking but i remember it was announced as suspected broken jaw ?...
when you are hyped after a bout like that you can quite easily think an injury is worse than it - when i played rugby myself you'd get some clatters and think you'd done yourself a mischief only for it not too be too bad after a shower and a cup of tea..

i thought willie limond won the fight by ko and posted that on here after the bout - suprised me how few people mentioned the knock down and the count and khan going back down

So What!!!!!! There's nothing in the rule book about 10 seconds, its a count of 10.

there is no ten count the referee is supposed to go 9... out. 10 should never be reached :TU:

The broken jaw was announced by the MC in the arena, so you can't really get offended at fans for repeating what they had been told by a reliable and public source.

Thats all i was saying too. You cant p#ssed at me for whipping out what the BBC themselves quoted Willie as saying. I dont have a clue why the guys who do the digital text would completely fabricate a few lines from Willie. Again, not saying i dont believe his bro, its just weird.

I wish Willie had stayed in there for rd 9. Khan looked ready to drop.

Cheers Kev. Did Willie have much to say about Amir as a fighter after the contest? Did he live upto his hype?

I'm sure I speak for everyone here in saying we always appreciate the presence on the boards of somebody with an inside track.

Good luck to Willie, he proved a lot that night and can come again, for sure.

I was fcuking screaming at the tv when Limond knocked Khan down. Afterwards, Limond didn't seemed to capitalise at all, not even throwing the right hand.

When Khan was knocked down, he was gone at that point. Legs were very hollow at that moment. I thought Willie should have finished him, but he didn't. Fair play to Amir for coming back & winning.

I thought your bro put up a valiant effort and quality performance btw

How do we think Limmond-Earl would go. I fancy Limmond as the better boxer.

willie said khan was very fast and had suprisingly long arms but would fight him in a heartbeat if given the opportunity again :TU:

i would imagine hardly any 10 counts are actually 10 seconds precisely...

but it was obvious the ref fluffed the count and stopped in between khan seeming to rise then putting a hand back down....

anyone could see he should have been counted out at that point and the result should have been a knock out to limond - i dont give two hoots about whether khan was down for 10 seconds exactly or not he was clearly knocked out in my opinion and the referee bottled it / made an error....

The question I've always had after that fight is. Was Khan's struggle due to him being overrated or was it just the fact that Willie Limond is much better than people give him credit for?

It's been said that Limond is a light puncher but it didn't look like it to me at any stage in that contest.

People - often non boxers - say that about LOADS of fighters (that they're light punchers etc....)

All boxers can punch, and all boxers can knock you out as most people who actually box will tell......that's why you respect every opponent and that's why you have a guard (for the most part), them that don't have a guard tend to be talented enough to get away with it.

People who say Limond can't punch don't know what they're talking about and should be recognised as such. IMO :TU:
