You are nothing if not prolific Elmer ;)

Baer will get up from Johansson's best shot, if he has to. You can bet your life Johansson won't be getting up from Baer's right hand, though. & he has neither the defense nor the chin, nor the ring savvy to survive when hurt.

Baer got to Schmeling, who could reasonably be interpreted as a rich man's Johansson.

Baer KO3.

This would be a barn burner, as long as it would have lasted, that is.

If Max Baer came with the mind set he did against Schmeling, Carnera, Cambel, Galento, and Cominskey....I can't think of how Johansson would have survived that, though he was a helluva puncher in his own right.

Baer kept throwing bombs, often wild and uneducated, while Johansson would wait for an opening, then throw the wild and telegraphed right hand.

I quote Eddie Machen on this:

"If you let him (Johansson) get off first, he will knock you out."

This was evident when Patterson lost to Johansson the first go around, not taking the former Olympic Silver Medal winner and European champion serious...the rematch however, Patterson knew he had to be viscous, and the result was a win for Patterson, with one of the most nasty knockouts in ring history.

Baer was so much larger than Johansson, though, that even if he wasn't in top form, I think Max could have lasted the distance, using that 'pawing' jab of his and strength in the clinches...

I'd have to go with Baer by a KO, around the 6th...only if he fought like he was serious on intent of beating someone, rather than going for laughs and for (lets be honest) all the willing pussy at ringside; otherwise I'd go for Johansson to win by a close, sloppy, boring decision.

I think Baer wins this by sloppy though powerful KO in the mid rounds.

OH COME ON!!

However i agree with you if Baer in the state of mind he was in his biggest wins he would have won however if he fought Johansson like he fought Braddock I could easily see Johansson taking Baer out with his Hammer.

..baer by kayo early. one swat and ingo the front runner folds.
ingo may get off first, but unlike the others, baer takes the thunder and lightning on the chin, hitches up trunks, laughs and ingo wonders why he left sweden..

decagon....and maybe there are those who are too intelligent to bother with those funny little numbers of yours..
