A potentially cracking fight this weekend - the underrated Humberto Soto against the perhaps overrated Guzman....whose your pick? Guzman looks real class at times - great defensive moves, great offense combining speed and power(he had Barrios badly hurt in the first rnd) but then can "go to sleep" in fights and let fighters outwork him. I have a feeling Soto may just nick a decision with a workman-like performance. I'm sure he threw over 1000 punches vs Juarez..

I like Soto in this one, really like the looks of him - what an improved fighter. Was very impressive dismantling Bobby Pacquiao - I think only JMM and Manny beats him at the moment - and I aint all that convinced that they will either.

Looks like a terrific fight on paper this one.

Guzman looked the business at SBW (great skills and good power) but his power isn't so prominant at SFW and I wonder how a year out of the ring is going to affect him. I haven't seen a great deal of Soto, apart from his last 2 fights. Looked very good in both, has excellent workrate and good power.

It's a fight that establishes the winner as elite at the weight, with some excellent potential matchups down the line. Great division the SFWs.

Guzman on points, as long as the layoff and huge weight gain between fights hasn't had an adverse effect.

I'm going to see it, as working down the road in Philly right now. Ringside is only £75!!!

Emerson when you get there can you stick $15 on Guzman to win in R7 and $15 on Soto on PTS?

Not seen much of Soto, but its a Guzman UD for me. Hes as fluid as quicksilver in the ring

Although having said that the schedule now also has Hatton down to fight Mayweather on Nov 30th at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas er, Doncaster!!!

A quality fight and ringside seats are only 75 quid! Thats superb value for money. Over here a fight of this calibre would be at least £150

Guzman will win this, he's top 5 P4P, trouble is he needs a superfight and fast, otherwise he's in danger of losing interest.

Quite tempted to go myself - AC being so close to NY. Might have to work on persuading the missus though...

Guzman should stop pulling out of fights, he made a habit of doing it. Many promoters will be put off by that

Guzman looks the business for a few rounds and then shuts off, maybe Soto can outwork him during these periods?

This may be one of those strange even money bouts that doesn't turn out so, where Guzman comes in and just looks a million dollars and outclasses Soto, who we find out maybe wasn't as good as we thought? Not saying that will be the case at all, just a possibility.

I'll make a bold prediction. I think Soto is the business. His main weight was feather but he's been knocking out super feathers and lightweights. He was the guy who beat Rocky Juarez - the man who started the trend for Barrera and Marquez.

I like his composed style and correct, deceptively fast punch delivery. His skill level is equal to Guzman's, he's fitter at the weight, & he punches harder. It will be hard, because he's not as fast or mobile as Guzman.

Guzman has trained for 4 months - weight woes - but hasn't fought in nearly a year. Soto's fought 3x this year incl a Sept tune up in Mexico.

Guzman will get found out this time. Hope I'm right, as I like Soto a lot. What a fecking fight to give to the underrated, overlooked guy. But he can do it.

Good analysis, Auto, but I think Guzman will take this if he's brought his weight down properly. I've thought for some time that - potentially - he is the best at 130. Is he still being trained by Floyd Sr.? As for Soto, he does impress me a lot, but I'm not sure about his whiskers at the top level. I know Guzman isn't banging as hard as he was at 122, but Soto's being floored by Bobby Pac doesn't bode well in my book. I don't think Guzman will stop him, but I see a clear UD. Guzman will probably then go to 135 and leave the road clear for AA.

Looks like you were right. Guzman raised his performance. Too fast and mobile. In hindsight Soto may be the goods but this foe was all wrong. Still one of my fave fighters and I wish he'd got that WBC title shot he deserved vs Marquez which I think he'd have won.

always thought guzman on pts in this one.

i thought it would be closer on the cards.

a lot of the fans on the general board had it quite close though.

guzman is good enuff to fight the top boys.

he's not really carried the punch up the weights with him though.
