This could end up being a vacant title fight, then again if Froch's constant chirping has rubbed Calzaghe up the wrong way he could just hang onto the titles until this one is done even if he does plan to move up. ;)

Excellent fight, be interesting to see who wins the bidding, usually hard to beat the Germans for purse bids, but as Inkin is Russian, I'm not sure how big a draw he really is in Germany.

I think he might be a bit chinny, so Carl has a great chance here.

feck yes. this will be a great fight! Froch's power & unpredictability v Inkin's body punching and solid skills. An amateur rivaly background to boot, giving ti extra needle. Great to see these 2 finally let off the leash. They've been festering for way too long.

It certainly is a solid matchup for all fight fans. Seems more than likely Froch will have to travel, although as MW mentions it depends how much stock Universum have in Inkin as to whether they will go all out for home advantage.

Denis is very skilful when he gets into his flow and hits hard enough but his chin raises question marks and with Froch's world rated power it looks good for the Cobra. Inkin was level on the cards i think when he halted Veit and impressive as the stoppage combination was, you would expect a man with Froch's expectations to be a level above the likes of Veit.

Brilliant news, hope he gets the fight in Nottingham. I haven't seen Ikin, any links online to him?

Universum are definitely putting more stock in Brahmer, who finally delivered the good stopping Veit.

Maybe, like InterBox who won purse bids for Bute and put in a low bid for Diaconu, they'll have to focus on 1 guy more.

I felt Inkin had 2 bad rds vs Veit and that he adjusted and let the air out of the big Gerry. Not a bad performance, especially as Calzaghe got nailed by Veit's right which got a reaction from his legs...

I don't want to count chickens before they hatch, but assuming the contactual side of things goes smoothly, this is why Froch has so many admires in boxing.....he does things the right way :box: .

A WBC eliminator is brilliant news, well done BBN for scooping this :TU: .

Youtube video of Inkin stopping Mario Veit. Not sure where to find any other footage. Looks impressive in these few seconds here though!

I got a few of his fights off fried bread. Inkin is a body punching killer.

If thats true it bodes very well for Froch. Hopefully Mick can get the fight over here, but it seems to be a tough ask to outbid the Germans as they paid a small fortune to lure Calzaghe over for Veit. If Carl has to knock him out in Deutscheland then so be it

Depends on what plans they have for Brahmer. I'm sure Universum want 2 belts. Inkin goes for 1, Brahmer goes for another.

They've given Inkin the tough assignment for sure. If Froch has "it", he will show it v Inkin because the Russian is aggressive and skilled. No room to mess about here. Carl needs fights like these, IMO, to show what he has.

Great news, March/April maybe with title showdown in say Sept - Somehow cant see Calzage giving Froch the satisfaction of fighting him for the title - Inkin is fast and a great body puncher but I give Froch a chance against him - Calzaghe, Kessler or Bute no

Definitely a great division with or without Calzaghe.

So many great fights can be made. Froch-Inkin could be as good as anything out there.

With calzaghe leaving ... bute, froch and inkin are in my current top 5 of this division with mundine and kessler. Really a good fight between two of the best of the division.

I had a feeling this would be the fight that would be made. Definitely a good chance for Froch to win a world title, although Inkin might give him some trouble. If he keeps him at range with the jab and doesn't get caught with rights though, he should get the win.

I put the Inkin clip on youtube..

..i will sort a highlight reel of the former Russian army boxing captain.

He is a tough fecker.

Glad Carl has got a dangerous foe at last.

Ive got the amateur fight between them and its fairly close actually so thats even more interesting too.

Anyone fancy watching it?

You are right that Interbox is more focus on Bute then Diaconu but you're wrong about Interbox winning a purse bid for the Bute-Berrio fight. That fight did not go to the purse bid. :D

I agree but I also think that Froch will command a psychological advantage because although he lost their amateur fight on the cards, the contest couldn't have ended too soon for Inkin, who was dropped heavily near the finish.

My only reservation about Carl Froch is that he sometimes wastes time trying to look good for the highlight reels and he doesn't have the upper body movement to justify that low left. It would be horrible if he was knocked out or stopped by an inferior opponent for that one stylistic defect.

Other than that, I think he could hold his own against any supermiddleweight on the face of the planet - and beat most of them too.

wouldn't say Inkin is inferior...

Yes, be great to view Froch/Inkin amateur fight if you have it :TU:

I really think the Russian doesn't hold a shot too well, he froze when Veit caught him in a way that makes you think a decent puncher like Froch could really make him pay. Think he was dropped before as well, maybe in his UK fight??

Depending on what Mick is willing to bid, he has a good chance of getting it over here, as I'm not sure the Germans are going to back the Russian like they would for a homegrown nutter like Brahmer.
