Hye guys

What are some of the better sites to get boxing related reading matter. My flavour is the HW division in case some of you guys had not noticed and my Mummy and GF have both asked me "what do you want for X-mas" so I figure its easy to give them a list of places to suprise me from, as opposed to select my own gift.

Thanks again.

The link that Ric posted is the best source on the net and the seller, Clay Moyle is a top notch guy...someone that you can certainly trust!

Lion Street Books is a good spot also located in England.

Kings Of The Ring - The History Of Heavyweight Boxing is an item that will serve you well. Not sure where it's available online, but can be purchased in stores as I just bought a copy myself. Author is Gavin Evans. Some of the stories involving the old, old-timers are both hilarious & inspiring. God they were tough men, & typically lacked respect for other fighters as men. All hated each other. I can't be bothered to leaf through the book now so I'll paraphrase & use assumed names but the meat of the quote will remain.

How about this...

"In round 61, Stanton was heavily bruised, bleeding from many welts & had been reduced to sipping whiskey between rounds to dull the pain."

"With one eye cleanly shut, two broken ribs & a broken nose, Fenton had been hit so hard the previous round, the skin of his upper lip had welded into the gap between his two front teeth, forcing his trainer to cut it free. He needed a knockout. He scored it with a sensational flurry that turned the trick. Standing over the agonised champion's figure, Fenton was heard to spit, "How do you like the view from down there, you son of a bitch!?"

Forget your Muhammad Ali's, George Foreman's & Sonny Liston's...how'd you like to climb into the ring with one of these bastards?

I have that book, it is a damned good read.

Tough old bastards back then. Hell just sipping whiskey straight up for me is a trial ;) let alone amidst a fight.
