The Germans have moved him so carefully I thought they had another Greenberg on their hands, but Alexander Dimitrenko's glittering record of 27-0 stays in shape as he stopped Timo Hoffmann in the last on Sat night.

He looked impressive as he floored the giant German twice in the 4th, but then was floored himself in the next round. He switched to jab and move and broke down the crowd favorite gradually. Not many seemed to be cheering the Russian on, and the German camp's dreams of a Russian / German heavyweight idol looks a way off yet.

But a least he stepped up and got the win. Doubts about his chin remain though, as he was floored in a previous fights as well I think. They will have to move him very carefully to get a title crack I think. WBO no doubt.

Good one for Haye to take a crack at, down the road.

On Current Scene they thought that he might have pushed Timo a couple of times and it was a dodgy stoppage. Haven't sen it myself mind.

Yes he did push him a bit, once when he was already on the canvas. But Hoffmann was sold out by the finish, maybe could have carried on but there was little point letting him take another pounding just to lose on points. He's had a long tough career.

Is Dimitrenko future champion material? Bet he could give Ibrag a run for his money with that size...

It's a good solid win for Dimitrenko and i think his resume keeps him ahead of being a Greenberg style hype job although he was starting to plod a little bit. Did okay against Billy Zumbrun and impressively finished Malcolm Tann after an even first few rounds. He is definately improving and a KO of the lumbering oak is a good move upwards.

I imagine he will definately hold out for the WBO title shit rather than being pushed into any of the others. Kohl will want to preserve his Heayweight star asset.

BTW - Did you get your accumulator in the end? If memory serves you might have hd Mosley over Cotto?

No it didn't come in, you're right I had (Pavlik, JC, Haye and then) Mosley over Cotto. Cottos new found chin at 147 done me over.

I had real high hopes for my Guzman, Dimitrenko and Oakey all on points bet, fecking dodgy ref helping the bookies out!!!! oh well shit happens

That's true in way, though Wlad usually only goes down against serious punchers, whereas Sacha has been down against some pretty harmless heavyweight types, relatively speaking.

First serious hitter he meets will blast him out of the water, by the looks of it.

Maybe he's weight drained??

I heard he is fighting Luan Krasinqi next. I'm glad to see he is stepping up in competition.
