now that soliman has lost on the contender what do you think is next for him?

I think he will fight afew more times with the contender clan.
Im sure he`s at that point where money is what matters.

Sly said that Sam "King Drifter" Soliman is his favourite fighter to watch in the world, so he should get decent backing in the States...

Sam always puts on a good show and has a heart the size of a planet. He has many good fights in him.

Sam is probaly the best Australian fighter of the last 10-15 years nver to win a world title

Sam actually beat Raymnond Joval in an IBF elimination fight while Joval was IBO middleweight champ. Both fighters were under 160lbs. Joval lost his title and had to fight to get it back. Somehow the IBO title was not on the line. Hmmmm.

if it was a ibf elimintator the ibf wouldnt of let them fight for the right to fight for there title while another is on the line

yeah, pavlik has to many big money fights on the horizon (potentially) so thats probaly never gonna happen.
i wouldnt like his chances against abraham, who i rate very highly. a fight against castillejo would be winnable tho imo...

I think the bigger problem will be that he's in the ring with Abraham.

I like Sam alot, great guy, but goddamn if I never watch another one of his fights as long as I live it'll still be too soon. The guy's style is the very definition of ugly.

Strange isn't it? Some people have a big thing about "style". Sam has a style that works for him, he wins more fights than he loses. Rocky Marciano is revered in America, and he used to swing them from the bleachers. Kahu Mahanga won more fights when he concentrated on belting his opponent than when Ambrose Palmer tried to turn him into a boxer rather than a fighter.

To be honest, not really. You gotta call it like you see it. I don't like Australian fighters that much because all they do is fight bums, then act like they deserve a title shot. When Mosley fought Taylor, I was rooting for Shane. But guys like Mundine and Katsidis are the real deal. I always doubted Katsidis, but he proved me wrong. Now he's gone to the US and is fighting tough guys, not staying in Aus fighting bums. I liked Robbie Peden too, he did'nt take the soft route, he fought his way up against tough Mexican journeymen and earnt his stripes. Willy Kickett is a good prospect, but I'm not sure he has the power. I was ringside for his 2nd fight and even though it was a KO1, its the speed, not the power that did it and I think some of the tougher fighters might walk through his punches and hammer him on the ropes. But good luck to him. Guys like Chad Bennet and Robbie Bryant can't spell fight though, and will continue to fight losers until some Indo taxi driver actually fights back and the local boy gets KTFO'd. I respect what they do (well Bryant at least), but they are club fighters and thats it, they're guys that would be lucky to crack .500 in the states against the Mexicans, bu here they're undefeated and overrated.

As for style, sure, it works for Soliman. But its not just sport, its entertainment, and his style is as ugly as they get and I ain't gonna pay to watch it. Good luck to Sam, but Jesus H Christ his contender fight against Wayne Alexander was so excruciating to watch I felt sorry for anyone who did'nt know boxing and was watching it thinking this is what pro fighting looks like.

Did you see his Contender fight with Bika? All the pros in the audience were rapt!

i think hes got a few good fights still in him but dont reckon any of the real big names will take a chance on him with that awkward style

To me Sam is the definition of a professional prize fighter. He takes anyone anytime, he is always fit and never takes a dive. I think if we had more fighters with his work ethic Boxing would be much more popular.

No, mate. Boxing is straight out a sport. If you want "entertainment" you would probably be better off watching Hulk Hogan and his mates on that travesty called professional wrestling.

No, its entertainment, no ifs, no buts about it. People pay to be entertained. There's a reason people like watching Manny Pacquiao and not Zahir Raheem. I someone doubt you'd rather watch Raheem fight and then marvel at is brilliant display of feinting, or his slick footwork as he runs from his opponent than watch Pacquiao and Marquez go to war. A boring fighter is a boring fighter, and while like I stated I like Soliman his style is horrendeous to watch.
