Boxrec have him down to fight 18-0 Russian Mikhail Nasyrov on 23rd December, in Germany (Arena-Box.) Padded record, and started his career at 168. Admittedly just for one fight.

Seems as though Solis will be on this card too.

Fragomeni's EU fight is on for the day before. Hide may have been mandated as co-challenger, but remember that honour doesn't quite carry as much savvy as a shot at the full EBU would.

Maybe Hide should go for the real European title. It's vacant, isn't it?

Hes a definate improvement on Herbies last opponent.....he may have to actually hit him to make him go down (sounds like my ex-missus :D )

No, Cantatore's got it. Again. Can't remember who he's fighting, but he's got a defence coming up soon with someone already down for the opponent.

Just checked. Cantatore won by MD in Italy so Gurov won a shutout in the real world

Johnny Jensen Cantatore's opponent - the Dane that was an Enzo opponent for a couple of days.

Shame for Gurov. Good fighter.

How about Hide v Ezra Sellers, who hits first wins!

And the Cantatore v Gurov fight was a fair decision, it was close but the right man won.

According to this article of Kevs, Herbie's fight will be live on the BBN website?!?

..........................................................

Former WBO Heavyweight champion Herbie Hide faces Mikhail Nasyrov from Russia for the vacant WBC International cruiserweight title on December 23rd in Halle, Germany.

The Dancing Destroyer is hoping a win will see him get a crack at a World title at cruiserweight in 2008.

The belt has been vacated by the German based Czech Rudolph Kraj after he made his fourth defence of the belt in Austria on the 4th December.

Herbie: "I would have loved to strip the belt from Kraj by beating him in the ring. But to be honest I don't care who I'm fighting. I am the best cruiserweight in the world today anyway. Maybe I will get the chance to prove that I'm better than Kraj in a World championship bout next year."

And who would be Herbie's favourite opponent in a possible fight for the World title?
Herbie: "I don't care - I'll beat everyone who's wearing a belt! The most prestigious fight would probably be one against David Haye. All England is waiting to see us go at it! And I tell you, I would be cutting Hay(e) big time!"

To get there Herbie has to beat unbeaten Nasyrov (18-0-0) in the first place, but Hide is very confident that the strong Russian won't stop him on his way.

Herbie: "I feel great. I've been training in Hamburg for eight or nine months to get the chance to fight for a title again. This Russian boy better call the police because "The Master of Disaster" is coming to get him!"

The fight will be available live to watch on BritishBoxing.net on the 23rd of December 2007.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a sh1t about Herbie? The sooner a stiff wind blows past his chin again the better... :box:

Na I think Herbie's great! Whenever he fights, you never know quite what is going to happen but one thing you do know is that someone(the opponent or Herbie) is gonna get knocked out! Great stuff - who knows he may end up an Enzo opponent sooner or later...

I would love to see Hide vs Macca. A fairly credible name on the resume what with Hide being a former heavyweight champ, and Warren would make him sound like a monster in the sun. Personally I could see Hide winning in a round or 2 if he has any skills left. That said Macca breathing heavy could knock Hide over.

Hide and Macca shud stop pissing about at cruiser and join Haye in the HW's

the brit scene would be transformed overnight and would rival the german dominance

Not Herbie. He tried it, and clearly his chin didn't like it. Not that he won't find it much easier at cruiser when he meets a decent puncher, but if he can make 200lb with ease, that's where he should be.
