Talk of Hopkins vs Jones Jr II fifteen years later got me thinking of long in the making rematches.

Obvious ones off the top of my head are Chavez-Taylor and Leonard-Hearns but have any taken as long as 15 years???

Hill vs Maske II was 10 years in the making - off the top of my head thats the biggest gap I can think of.

Read somewhere, though can't seem to remember where, that Graciano Rocchigiani is to take on Dariusz Michalczewski for the third time.

Sorry to go off the topic for a moment on this I would like to ask Tom on what basis he made Tom Owens favourite in his article about a fight on Sunday against debutant Bob from Darlington and I am wondering if you based that on knowledge one, or both boxers?

And I regretted it once I posted it. I feel cheap, like Phil Mitchell after a bender.

It just married up with the discussion. Perhaps I've been intoxicated by the growing traffic. I've had as many as 3 visitors some afternoons.

I made Tommy favourite on the basis that i had seen two of his amateur fights, both (before Sunday) of his pro outings and countless rounds of sparring with Pele Reid, Jerome Benjamin, etc in the gym. He had impressed against Tony Booth last time out by keeping the dangerous Hull puncher at range with the jab.

I thought he’d do the same against the County Durham fighter.

Tommy is a good boxer – tall, stiff-hitting, a fine jabber and skilled – that is why i had picked him to prevail on Sunday.

I had never seen Bob fight prior to his paid debut on Sunday night, and all i knew is that he got to the finals of the ABA Novices earlier in the year. He was making his debut against a fighter who should have, had he not have been cut on his debut, been 2-0 entering.

However, Ajisafe looked a solid talent – good footwork, upper-body movement, switch-hitting, a solid jab and good power. He was in control from start to finish and finished the job in brutal fashion.

a novice amateur finalist would have indicated some quality combined with no shortage of discipline/ambition to me personally, and against a 2 - 0 pro (well almost), there'd be nothing in it experience-wise so I was a little surprised you, Banter's "most revered" would stick your neck out like that with only 50% of the details.
but still you live and learn I suppose and at the end of the day I appreciate that you have to come up with something for your articles, which save for a few hundred eye-witnesses are sometimes the wider-fan's only window on a fight. So considering you do it for nothing you are owed no small amount of credit in that respect, likewise for the frank response.

Leonard v Duran 3 was a fair distance from the rematch. Around 9 years I think.
