Just to announce, that after a long hard slog, the Charlie Magri book is now out for Christmas, and should be in the shops as we speak.

Yes, I'm sorry it's a big of a plug as I am the co-author, but I thought I'd let everyone know that the book has finally hit the shelves.

So, support your local (co) author, and rush out and buy it.

Isn't there a launch party this week?

There is, on Wednesday at Charlie Magri's boozer in Grove Road Victoria. Anyone wants to come along they are more than welcome.

It's Wednesday the 28th, from 6.00 P.M onwards at the Victoria, Grove Road, Mile End.

There should be a right good crowd of boxers past and present there, as well as trainers from the boxing world. Sky TV will be there, and the newspapers as well.

I just spoke to Charlie and he said anyone's welcome, but they have to buy a book or he'll bash 'em up!

In 1980, Magri was the greatest flyweight in the world. He won his world title too late (1983).

Yes, after having talked to Charlie for some months now, he always felt he was ready for a world title a lot sooner. The waiting around for his title shot made him go off the boil, and he lost a couple he shouldn't have done.

I reckon had he got a title shot after beating Laciar (Laciar got his shot two fights later and won the WBA crown in South Africa), he would have held on to his belts longer.

By the time Charlie had got hold of the title, he was already past his prime, which for most flyweights is pretty brief.

I also think that with modern training methods, Charlie would probably have fared a lot better. He was in the gym every single day, and still struggled to make flyweight. He thought of moving up to Bantamweight but it never happenned.

Was a great priviledge talking to Charlie, a great fighter back in the day, and a very nice bloke as well.

Not yet, but boxers biographies are the only boxing books I buy.

I presume Charlie is selling them full price. Not entirely sure, not asked him.

It's a hardback at present so think it's 17 quid.

What is the price post paid to Denmark?

Sorren, I still owe you for sorting me out with those videos. I'll give you a free copy mate, and I'll get Charlie to sign it for you. I've got a signed photo at home for you as well, which I never got around to sending.

I'm gutted, would have loved to have popped down and got a signed copy.

Are you ever in London Terry, I could pass a copy on, would save on postage costs, which are quite a bit for a hardback as I remember.
