He took on Rocky Marciano with limited potential,a short reach, a late start(turned pro at 23),and a brief amateur career and won the heavyweight championship. He got everything out of the Rock. He was always in top shape. Working downstairs,tucking that chin behind his shoulder,throwing punches from all angles,landing anywhere on an opponent. Quite a job!

This is one of the more interesting questions asked in recent times.

I guess I couldn't go past someone like Eddie Futch. If he weren't available (or more likely, didn't like what he saw ) I wouldn't mind Teddy Atlas in my corner. Another excellent trainer as well as a first-class motivator to boot.

Angello Dundee said that the greatest trainer of all time was Charlie Goldman...so I'd have to go with Goldman on this one.

I would like to be good enough to have
Ray Arcel or Eddie Futch to see something
and have them train me. That would be pretty

I'd have to ask Eddie Futch, or perhaps Brendan Ingle.....or maybe Enzo Calzaghe! As an aside, I reckon Jim MacDonald would work wonders with the likes of Futch or Steward as a conditioning/fitness coach - I have only ever heard GREAT things about his approach to fitness.

Ray Arcel without a second thought. He was a magnificent trainer and corner.

I was lucky enough in my teen years to be trained by the late Johnny Coulon who was bantam champ in 1908 and beat Charlie Goldman. Coulon trained Eddie Perkins and hundreds of fighters and was an excellent teacher. A wonderfull man...

Enrique, did you know a black guy by the name of Briscoe, that fought in that same gym in the early 60's ? I never met Doctor Odom the boxing dentist, but I know a few guys at my healthclub who knew him.

Theres alot to picking a good trainer.
Hes not just a teacher/coach, your personalaties gotta mesh also.
Ya gotta get along.
You also need to make sure hes looking out for your best interests.
I like the way the Petronellis run things.
Calm in the corner , stable individuals , I dont like drama and chaos or song and dance men.
I think I would have worked well with those guys.
