Paul Williams V Santos Pakau was a bad one. He should have stopped it earlier but then again the corner and doctors were also letting take Pakau take a pounding so it wasn't exactly just Cortez's fault. You're correct though, he is one of the best and has the massive experience to handle this type of occasion.

How about Hatton-Castillo where he fined Castillo a point for hitting on the belt line after saying in the intro 'the belt line is ok', it didnt turn out to matter but it was a poor job of refing

What about Dave Parris?! No seriously whenever Americans fight abroad they insist on an American ref, set of judges and legion of US officials with them. Hatton should have insisted on bringing over Mickey Vann!

Good choice of reff in my opinion both because he is a fair man and he has worked with both fighters before so both he and they know what to expect.

I always like Ian John Lewis, he is an okay reff but mainly I like it when at the start of proceedings he says "I am the reffawee"

Ian is an excellent referee

Ian is a dreadful referee, just a shambles for the most part. I dont think much better of Cortez to be honest, not a good choice for Hatton

Why are you concerned that Nady might of been chosen?

Because he wouldn't tolerate Hatton's rough housing and excessive holding pressure tatics?

Decent ref for Hatton. Not totally sure how much he'll let him get away with but it's unlikely he will kill the rhythm if Hatton gets properly on top.

A good ref for the fans.

Its not a good choice for Hatton, In the Tszyu Mitchell fight Tszyu was deducted points for manhandling Mitchell. I think Hattons best chance is ruffing PBF on the inside and i dont think Cortez will stand for it.

Worst ref ever and completely obsessed with being on camera and running his mouth, continously warning non-american fighters for imagined infrigements (Eastman v Joppy, Maskaev v Rahman II), breaking up inside work with no good reason (Ruiz-RJJ), just bad awaful terrible in every respect. I wish he'd go away.
