Crissy,
I am only a beginner on C-P so bear with me.
I Was born in Islington & knew Alby.He was a nateral Fighter & fought the best in the Country,&
you can feel very proud of him. He was completely fearless in the Ring and may I say a real Gent out of it. Alby went to White Lion St. School and in my Oppinion if he had gone to Risinghill St. and learnt the Basics of Boxing as a boy, he would of been a british champion.
Fondest regards Len Wood.

I was a barrister in London in 1981-84. I lived in Islington and went to the pub owned by Alby Hollister. Alby was a kind and warm person. His pub was really old style and was frequented by elderly Islington locals. He had boxing pictures on the walls and we talked a lot about the boxing of older days. Alby was the only boxer ever to put Randolph Turpin, the future world middleweight champion, on the canvass, although he eventually lost on points. I also remember his wife and it was at this time that she became ill and sadly died.
Alby always talked of boxing as a noble sport. Even now, in 2018, I still think back at Alby as being a true gentleman.
