Just wondering where others here get their daily boxing digest from. I'm sure everybody here uses more than one website, but what do you consider to be the best websites and the best writers? Sometimes it can be hard to keep track of a writer you like because of their habits of switching elsewhere for a better deal. Sometimes a site isn't as quick to report breaking news as others. It would be good to know of any other websites where people here frequent (forums aside).

Personally I'd say my most visited are:

This is where I read most of the US news. Some good features, exclusives, and video content. The mailbags are a good idea, although sometimes far too self indulgent (Doug Fischer). Good for US West Coast prospects but not a whole lot on East Coast fighters or particularly non-US (where they often pretend to know more than they do).

Are there any rivals to this in the UK? Always an excellent source for the UK scene and some very good writers on board (and lots of them from here - McNeilly, Podmore, Terry D, James McD, Kevin, Ben Carey, Fennell, am I missing anybody?).

Lots of columnist articles, sometimes offering different angles. Good reads occasionally but I've found it to not have the same volume of content as the others and I'm not too familiar with some of the writers.

I hadn't actually been to this one much in the past but it seems to be pretty good on first look. Also the current (?) home of Michael Katz who writes some old style articles, which are usually entertaining (although I know this may be disputed by others).

Can be good for getting quick updates, but I haven't quite worked this one out. Notice how every news headline ends with an exclamation mark. Includes a lot of UFC news, which is sometimes annoying filtering through it.

These are the main ones I've used - would be interested to hear of any other opinions. Any good sites covering European boxing? I hear Kevin Iole writes some good articles for Yahoo too.

All of them are shit compared to boxingwriter

I used to visit eastside boxing all the time but the quality of some of their writers is pretty poor and you get like 4 versions of the same story

Katz/Cliff Rold columns on BS.com. Katz is annoying as f*ck sometimes but still. Cliff Rold knows his shit all the way from asian flyweights to 1940's heavyweights.

Fightnews is the best for results, but the reports can't be trusted 100%, as it seems some promotional companies sometimes just post their biased reports on there, and get away with it.

Sure it did, but when you've got people failing to respect an individual's right to an opinion and saying you don't know your stuff and you're an attention-seeker simply because they disagree with you, then it makes you think twice about doing it again.

Most people who disagreed did so respectfully and debated the articles in the spirit they were intended, but the minority killed my enthusiasm for any follow-up. I'd like to think my years in writing about the sport proved I do know what I'm talking about, but apparently in the eyes of some I haven't got a clue because I said Henry Cooper wasn't world class.

Having said that, I've got a few year-end opinion pieces brewing, although the subject matter is (hopefully!) less controversial.
