As usual, very frustrating to see these long gaps with no news, interest, anything. He's the fricken WBC beltholder, he's got to go out and get himself on the undercard of a big american fight, knock out a mandatory, try and rebuild his rep over there and call out malignaggi for a unification.

No matter what he has done recently he is still a criminal waste of talent.

saw Castillo mentioned in a paper the other day but I thought he was fighting WBO.

They talked Malignaggi but I think both Malignaggi and Witter are hoping Hatton loses and he comes back down to 140 for a title fight because thats where the money is. Who else is there? Castillo (might be fighting Margarito)? Torres unification? Rees (mandatory and FW fighter). DHOPS (protected)

WItter would beat them all though its just hard to find someone whos game

I was worried to hear a rumour of Castillo v Margarito.

I also head Castillo gets a WBC elim to fight Witter. Opponent is some guy who was a world class amatuer.

I was wrong about Malignaggi, he is being forced to fight Ngoudjo and Ndou back to back before he has the option to unify. This is what he said about Witter and the rest of the 140/147 division, sounds like he knows his stuff

Junior Witter: “Probably the most dangerous, underrated, unappreciated fighter in boxing. I’d love to meet him in the ring but that’s up to the networks. Witter is definitely the best light welterweight in England.”

Floyd Mayweather: “The best pound-for-pound in boxing today, maybe ever. He dominates and is definitely the smartest boxer.”

Ricky Hatton: “Workmanlike but a little overrated. He’s not great but is a good fighter who is tough and a worker. He’s overrated in that some believe he’s the best.”

Herman Ngoudjo: “Another workmanlike fighter but not the same as Gavin Rees because he doesn’t throw as many punches. What you see is what you get with him. He’s a former Olympian and I expect him to come into our fight at 100-percent. He’s never been given anything and has come up the hard way. I’m looking forward to fighting him.”

Demetrious Hopkins: “Good family pedigree and a solid fighter. He’ll lose his first pro fight in 2008 when he meets Paulie Malignaggi.”

Lovemore N’dou: “The biggest clown in boxing today. He’s like Barnum & Bailey, you see the same show. His recent words and actions make him look even more stupid to the media and fans.”

Gavin Rees: “I’ve watched some clips of his fights and he seems like a rugged fighter who throws a lot of punches. Another workmanlike fighter, but he won’t last too long as a title holder.”

Ricardo Torres: “A strong fighter who can’t fight a lick.”

Timothy Bradley: “I know him from the amateurs. He’s a darkhorse junior welterweight right now and he’ll eventually become a contender in this division.”

Jose Luis Castillo: “Past his prime; a legend in his day.”

Vivian Harris: “Another underappreciated fighter who has been mismanaged. It’s a shame that his loss to Witter has hurt his career so much. It shouldn’t have.”

Kendall Holt: “A solid fighter who could become world champion. He’s had a couple of bad breaks. It’s all up to him. He has all of the physical tools but, mentally, he has to overcome negativity and setbacks. If he can overcome that he can be world champion.”

Paulie may be a decent boxer, but his knowledge of others is laughable.

Witter isn't better than Hatton. Junior hasn't beaten anyone in Ricky's top 2, maybe even 3 opponents.

Mayweather isn't even a top 10 GOAT fighter, yet let alone possibly the best. He may break the top 10 in a few fights, but that would include a win over Cotto.

Torres almost floored Cotto on several occasions in their fight, so obviously he can fight.

Been too hard and out of order concerning Witter.

Still don't think he beats Hatton but as I have always stated he gives him one hell of a fright in those early rounds.

We will see how Hatton can handle a boxer and clever so and so on Saturday - if it is a complete disaster - then that will be the final nail in the coffin of Hatton/Witter.

Back in the ESB days you'd always pick Junior over Hatton, perhaps you change your mind on your latest affiliation?

I'd definately pick Witter to counter and punnish Hattons mistakes. Witter is all wrong for Hatton but it would be an exciting fight with Hatton coming forward and Witter being faster and landing his best counter shots.

Witter's definately been avoided from 2000-2007. The difference between Witter and Mayweather is Witter has more 1 shot power, Mayweather better defensively and stamina

As for the matter at hand, MBaye won an eliminator for the WBC last time out, although I'm not sure if it was a FINAL eliminator.

Castillo is supposed to be fighting Bradley in an eliminator. God knows what Witter is going to do in the meantime. The best thing woud obviously be an unification against Torres or Malignaggi, but he'll probably end up fighting some scrub in a voluntary defense.

The word in Sheffield is that it's Castillo or Bradley.

would be good to see Rees for Witters carrer I hope its a unification.

The final nail has already been hit. It wont happen. American TV will not pay for Witter against anybody

Yes Castillo or Bradley is what i heard. Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley was a top amateur and from what i saw of him versus Manuel Garnica, has the potential to become very good indeed. I would be hoping for Castillo or someone overrated like Hopkins if i was Witter as Bradley is very live and dangerous.
