The average sports fan probably doesn't know who Kessler is, but they may have heard of DLH.

Provided they don't take the pss with ticket prices, and put on a good undercard (hopefully GBP fighters v UK fighters), I'd expect this to attract 70,000+

It would if Ricky wins. Then comes SPOTY and sunday supplement features. Though if he gets mullered (pardon my pugilistic jargon) it's a MUCH harder sell. Hence the upper case.

Well, Hatton has all of Manchester as supporters, and he's a regular on S-occer Am's sofas, i'm sure he could attract 50000+ Mancunians and footy fans to Wembley for a boxing match..

If Calzaghe can get 50,000 I think Hatton v DLH would better that. We're talking the UK's most popular fighter against an undoubted all time great.

Fcuk the DLH fight! Thats a fight for the yanks and for Rickys bank balance, what's wrong with a meaningful fight with Witter or Cotto?

DLH's lost 3 of his last 5 and one of those wins came from a gift decision against Felix Sturm. The yanks seem to cream themselves everytime DLH farts, I don't see why us Brits should be following suit

If Ricky was truly interested in fighting Witter or Cotto, he would have in place of Maussa, Collazo, Urango or a shot Castillo.. he didn't, because he knows they'd probably stop him and he's a money fighter..

Rickys took a risk in fighting PBF, hopefully he'll continue the trend after Mayweather, but I doubt it. However the risk to his legacy when fighting Mayweather is minimal due to PBF's stature in boxing, where as the proper risks his legacy are against the likes of Witter.)

But he's fighting the best fighter in the world - you just said it yourself - so you are contradicting yourself about Hatton only being a money fighter (and by implication not takiing risks).

How is it a risk fighting the 'best p4p fighter'..? Noone gave him a prayer when the fight was made, infact noone was even interested because they thought it would be so one-sided and pointless, it took Ricky being confident in interviews to generate interest.. so he was in a no-lose sitution.. and now this purse is just hideous.. if Ricky does lose convincingly then everyone should wash their hands with him, because apparently Mayweather 'doesn't stand a chance', and that's all that generated interest (and his bank balance)..

I really don't understand that post and have decided that reading it 3 times was enough.

I'm pretty sure you don't like Hatton very much, I got that much.

Agree with you on this Chambers - Hatton -V- Cotto would be great!

...but Witter v Hatton wouldn't. Witter needs at least one more high profile win before he can even consider being in Hatton's league. Plus the money would be shit as it wouldn't appeal to the Yanks.

Like it or not, they drive the numbers for a boxers bank balance.

Strongly fancy Hatton fighting Cotto at MSG next year win, lose or draw against PBF.
